Saddleback College Nursing

U.S.A. California

Published

Hi everyone! Is anyone applying to Saddleback College's nursing program for spring 2018? I just calculated my points according to their multi-criteria sheet and I have the following:

15 points - 2300 hours EMT work experience

30 points - 4.0 science GPA

25 points - TEAS score

3 points - psychology 1

3 points - math course

3 points - speech course

3 points - life experience

82 points total

What are my chances of being accepted? I won't be able to enroll in pharmacology or the life cycle courses before the deadline.

Hello and congratulations to all who have made the ADN program at Saddleback! I unfortunately got my denial letter yesterday. I wanted to ask if any of you who have accepted also applied to Cypress College's ADN program? If so, would you mind notifying the Health Science Applications office in writing that you would like to withdrawal your name/application if you choose to keep your seat at Saddleback to possibly open up seats for others who are waiting to hear from Cypress's program . Please and thank you! Good luck on your journey to becoming an RN.

Hello sg11! Congrats on getting into all three programs. I am kind of on the same boat as you. Santa Ana and Saddleback are close to me, but Cypress is a 30-40 minute drive, sometimes longer depending on the traffic. However, I wouldn't let the distance deter you from going to a particular school because in each program you only go a couple days out of the week. That being said, I think all three schools are great. I work at a hospital and I always see Cypress nursing students and they all tell me how much they love the program. Also, I had a Calculus professor who is friends with one of the clinical instructors at the Cypress program; he spoke very highly of her. Now, I have also spoken to Saddleback and Santa Ana nursing student who also say they enjoy the program. So, at the end of the day I feel it will come down to your gut feeling for each school. You will be content in either program I would imagine. Hope this helps and best of luck on your journey into nursing :)!

Also, I forgot to mention, it is important to look at each school's passing rate on the NCLEX. I would use the following site as a reference: NCLEX Pass Rates

I believe Cypress was at 94%, Saddleback at 96%, and Santa Ana at 93%.

@sg11 you have already heard back from Cypress? I was told notifications wouldn't be sent out until beginning of December?

Hey guys! I got into saddleback, santa ana, and cypress. Any suggestions on which school to go to? Santa Ana and Cypress are very close to home and saddleback is about 30 miles away.

@9090hy you have already heard back from Cypress? I was told notifications wouldn't be sent out until beginning of December? Sorry to bother just am anxiously waiting to hear from Cypress & have not received anything yet.

I was looking into applying to saddleback, but just saw they require pharmacology and a second lifespan. I thought I had all of the required prereqs for most programs, this is different!

Those aren't required prereqs to apply but they get you additional points if you've completed them. You should get them done if you can so you don't have to take them your first semester. You'll also need all the points you can get! The point cut off for our accepted class was 74 points.

I am applying to Spring 2019 this September.

I scored 78% on the Teas.

3.69 GPA in sciences

completed all prereq's and extra classes

associate's degree

I have 73 points and I really hope I get in. What do you guys think?

I think the cut off was 73 this past round, and it was 71 the time before that..you have a decent chance i think! People who are accepted dont always accept, so it's great even if you get an alternate spot
