National University April 2013 Cohort

U.S.A. California

Hi everyone! I thought I'd start a thread for those of us who applied for the April 2013 cohort at National University in San Diego. I believe everyone has taken their TEAS/essay by now. How did you all do? I'm anxious to find out in Mid January about the acceptance into the program.

Feel free to introduce yourselves so we can get to know one another.

Hi MarineWife09,

I applied for cohort 33 (January 2013) and got in but differed till April. I know I was stressed out waiting to see if I was accepted so I know just how you all feel. I look forward to getting to know possible classmates and good luck to everyone.

P.S

Semper Fi from a former Marine Wife, My hubby got out in 2008.

Hi nissy_nc!

I didn't know that we're allowed to defer our acceptance. Do you know how long we can do that? It is just my luck that the day after my TEAS/essay that my husband received orders for Okinawa. I'm confident that I'll be accepted into the program based on my grades and TEAS score, so it stinks that I feel like I wasted it all. It'd be great if I could defer my acceptance until we got back stateside.

Congrats on your acceptance into the program!!

Hey everyone, just wishing you all good luck in your acceptance to NU. I graduated from Cohort 24, a member of NU's nursing honors society Sigma Theta Tau and now working as an ER nurse and going through the MSN program at University of San Francisco. The school is hard we had a few people fail out of the program and go to other schools. Everyone in my Cohort passed the NCLEX the first time around. If you guys had any questions just let me know. GOOD LUCK!!!

HI everyone,

i also applied for the april 2013 cohort. I cant wait to hear if i was accepted, 3 weeks and counting. my friend was accepted into the jan cohort and said that all of the alternates except one got into his cohort. good luck to everyone.

Honors - that is awesome. I also want to get my MSN - are you taking it online or did you move up north. Also did you work during your schooling, if not was it hard finding work after graduation? i have heard mixed messages. I want to work in the er too. good luck in your future schooling.

I'm taking it online cuz I still have to work. I did not work during school because in order to do well you have to put a lot of time into studying. The school is expensive and fast paced. They do not joke around when they say you are failing and they will cut you from the program. There were a few people who failed out of the program and spent over 20k$ and ended up with nothing. So I did not want to risk of failing out of the program. For me finding a job after graduation was not hard. I worked in the ER prior to school so I knew a lot of people already. I had a few job offers before I graduated but others in class are still trying to find jobs. Currently there are about 12 people who found jobs out of a class of around 36.

Hello everyone,

We are getting closer and closer to the time that we find out whether or not we have been accepted to april 2013 cohort. My GPA is 3.5 and I did ok on the Teas. I'm praying that I get into this cohort. We should start getting responses anytime now. I believe they said we would hear something by the second week in january. Woaah please. I want this!!!

We are getting close! I'm really anxious! Does anyone know how long we can defer our acceptance if we get into the program? With my wonderful luck we got orders to Japan the day after I took the TEAS test, but as anyone knows with the military: nothing is for sure until you're there.

I emailed you know who this morning regarding when we should hear. I thought when I took my teas she said mid jan. if she writes me back I will post what she says. Does anyone know how many applicants applied.

Marinewife09 - I believe you can defer for 2 cohorts ( 6 months ) but don't quote me on that.

I just heard back from you know who. She said that notifications will not be sent out until the final results are put into the soar, so about 3rd week in January.
