Humboldt State acceptance?

U.S.A. California

Published

Hey guys... I applied to Humboldt State for Fall 2010 hoping to get in their nursing program. I have only applied to the university and not submitted any supplemental application to the Nursing Dept yet. However, today I got a letter from them saying "Humboldt State is pleased to offer you admission for the fall 2010 semester as a resident of California. This offer of admission of provisional. You have been admitted based on the information you supplied on your application for admission... " On top it says my major is Pre-Nursing.

So does this mean that I got accepted to their Nursing program for a BSN? I am just confused because it seemed pretty weird that they sent me this before I sent my supplemental nursing app. Anyone else got one of these?

No, This only means that you got into the college but not the program yet. The actual nursing department will either email or send you their own acceptance/rejection/waiting-list letters.

Ouch... HSU's letter for me wasn't so painful for me but still, it gave me a story to tell. I applied to HSU for the spring 2010 entry, but I was rejected. Good luck! GPA, residency, and the supplemental criteria really counts!

What supplemental information are you guys referring to? They asked for my transcripts and my residency form. They never asked for proof of my CNA nor proof of proficency in a second language. I don't even remember if the application asked anything about having a CNA but their grid states I'll get 3-4 extra points for it. Will they be asking for proof of those things?

Can anyone answer the above? Thanks.

They don't contact you at all regarding what is to be sent in. Once you submit the supplemental online you are suppose to print out a copy and also submit it through the mail. You are also suppose to send in proof of your work experience, second language, and all the other things they ask for alongside your hard copy version of the supplementary application. I did this for Spring 2010 admissions so I'm not sure if that's still the same policy. Hpe this helps.

Hey guys, I have still yet to receive a confirmation "email" regarding my admission status to the nursing program. Has anybody else received an email yet for Fall 2010?

Ahhh so i got placed on the waiting list for Humboldt State's school of nursing!! how exciting :)

what number are you? I'm waaaaaaaay down "alternate number 50." I'm disappointed they wrote they are only taking 20 this term, according to the email. Stupid budget. Anyone else heard? I wonder how many applications they received. I got my email tonight, too- saying I am on the alternate list-- number 50 I had a C in one pre-requisite non-science class (English 1C) class, but otherwise straight As in prereqs (3.89) and a 92 individual rank / 99% percentile (HSU uses percentile) on the TEAS; with an overall GPA of 3.59. I wish they allowed more points for the TEAS-apparently scoring a 75 percentile is as good as a 100. But I'm really, really glad they let us know so quickly, though. It makes planning a lot easier. I have no idea when to expect official letters from other schools. (PS I can't figure out how to format? I have tried to put paragraph markers in like 4 times. It is very irritating to have one block of text like that. sorry, I'm new to registering, but not to reading...)

dont give up! they placed me 10th on the waiting list last semester and I didn't get in. I was lucky enough to get into another school though that was closer to home and happily accepted that instead of gambling and hoping I get moved up. Good luck and I hope you get into the other programs you applied to!

I think i'm something crazy like number 32 so i probably wont get in...did you apply anywhere else?!? My top choice is SDSU just because I live in San Diego.
