This thread is for those who are aspiring a seat in CSU Long Beach's School of Nursing for Fall 2010.

We all know the current impaction of the program. We are all familiar with the challenging process.

We understand the competition between all the applicants. You are not alone!

I submitted my application yesterday and I must tell you the relief I suddenly had.

I have worked hard the past two years of my life and there is nothing else I can do but pray and hope. =]

Has anyone else turned in their application?

congratulations! csu long beach is just requesting that i send in my transcripts. in other news, i got into my back school, CSULA. not admitted in the program though. i hope these nursing schools get back to us ASAP!

Good luck to everyone here! I'll be applying for the Fall 2011 semester from El Camino :)

I wanted to ask/clarify if anyone knew here -- I read somewhere else on allnurses that if you do not get into the nursing program, they deny you admission to CSULB itself. Is this true?

Can you guys give me some info on the teas test? I haven't taken it yet and I just got an email from CSULB that I need to submit my transcript. For those of you who got accepted, did the letter say you are accepted into the pre-nursing program? I'm trying to get all the details I can. Also does anyone knows what is the chances of getting in once your transcripts is submitted? I don't want to put my hopes up to know that I can't get in. Thank you so much for your help.

Hello everyone! I just submitted my application for the Nursing program a week ago and I have been going crazy with anticipation/nervousness! Luckily, I found this website from typing in "CSULB nursing interview?" in my Google search bar =-)

I've been reading the forum and everyone's grades are SO competitive! It's actually really making me nervous, and I was a bit confident about my scores in the beginning =-(

Anyways, so I emailed a bunch of people on the Nursing faculty such as random professors, the Dean of the college, and the undergraduate advisor and they all told me the same thing: my grades look competitive, yet they really do not know anything about my chances because I guess they have nothing to do with admissions. Anyways, for those of you who are curious here are my grades:

Science GPA: 4.0

GE GPA: 3.0 (GAH!)

TEAS score: 86.6%

Math score: 91%

I think that 4.0 on the science gpa looks really impressive, especially because it's worth the most amount of points (4 maximum!). Anyways, I calculated my overall score and it's a 9.052. In Fall 09 the lowest overall score was an 8.59 and the highest was a 9.71, so I'm hoping for the best. I'm guessing at this point it's too late to ask for advice, but I'm glad I have people to be nervous as hell with!

Well I guess I don't have to worry about having stupid classmates! =P LOL.

I hope the stats for Fall 2010 won't increase too much. Looking at the application pool statistics, the applicants' average stats always increase by a little bit! I calculated my score out of 10 and I earned an 8.92! I surely hope this is enough to get me into the program!

I am very excited to find out my status for that damn impacted nursing school! I am also excited to meet Fall 2010's nursing cohort.

anyone want to start studying for those nursing courses already?

HAHAHA. JK! =P :yeah:

How did you guys calculate your scores already? whats the formula or whatever?

you just proportion your score with the corresponding number. For example, if you've got a 3.6 on your pre-req science GPA, this is how you would calculate your score:

*remember the science GPA is worth 4 points maximum!

3.6/4.0=x/4

cross multiply and you get:

14.4=4x

x=3.6

so your score for your science gpa would be a 3.6/4

just do that for the rest of your scores and just add up the total and there you get your overall score.

hope this helps

Yeah, that sounds right!

So this is the "formula" I used:

4(Science GPA/4.0) + 2(GE GPA/4.0) + (Teas Total x 2) + (Teas Math x 2) = CSULB Nursing Score

4(3.4/4.0) + 2(4.0/4.0) + (.871 x 2) + (.889 x 2) = 8.92

Science: 3.4

GE: 4.0

Teas: .871

Math: .889

Note: This is just MY guess on how they calculate the score.

They could be using specific charts and whatnots.

I hope this is how they do it though!

I'm 8.923 too! I'm quite nervous.....! Come to think of it, in only a month we'll be hearing from them if we're selected for an interview or not. gahh. My grades look better in csula application since they have different requirements for nursing but i prefer going to csulb! I'll just be thankful either way if any of these schools accept me actually. haha. Good luck to you all!
