    Hi Everyone!

I am beginning my pre-requisites for Saddleback College in Spring 11. I will be starting with Micro and Speech and hopefully Math. I have almost 50 units at Saddleback and OCC already. I wanted to get more feedback on the applicants who were accepted for Spring 11. What were your points? How many people applied? How do you like the program? I think that by the time I am finished with my pre-reqs I should be applying for Fall of 2012. I would be applying for Spring of 2012 if they allowed you to apply while you are completing your last semester of pre-reqs, I think that would really help. The more I read on this forum regarding Saddleback, the more I get nervous. Are any of you volunteering at any hospitals? Did you take extra courses to qualify for the program?

Good luck to each and every one of you. I know that this process is especially tasking on you mentally and emotionally. I wish you all the best!

    Hi All,

I would like to know how much those who are in the program like it. I'm in High School and looking around for a Nursing program I would like to go into in the future. I have taken some classes at Saddleback (Sign Language 1, 2, 3, and going into 4. Which are all in the Health Science building coincidentally) So I sort of have a feel for the school and a good amount of credits to my name. But I want to go a 4 year college and get away from home. Do you think it would be worth it for me to stay home for Saddleback or should I go chance it somewhere else?

I have applied for Fall 2011 Nursing Program. In talking with the school counselor the point range was from the high 60's - 90 points. He also mentioned that every application period would have a different range, but that the qualifying points will probably get higher as time goes on. He suggested that I try to work toward the mid 70's for having a better chance of getting into the program.

    Hello all,

It's my 1st time posting as I am interested in Saddleback's nursing program. I was so excited about working towards the program, but reading this thread freaked me out in terms of how competitive it is. Now I am thinking that perhaps I shouldn't even bother.

I do have few questions though....assuming you don't get in..what then? I mean taking so many courses and not getting in means that you should be looking into other school or can you re-apply? If you can re-apply, would you have a better chance to get in later or they don't care? Can you re-apply 10 times and still not get in?
I mean I would hate to go to school again (recent grad from UCI's Social Science school but an old transfer from Saddleback) spend the $$ all over again for education and then end up not getting admitted into the nursing program.....that's would really **** me off. So I am super freaked out and unsure as to wethr or not I should be looking into other nursing schools? Are all the schools in so. cali. this competitive or are there CC's who take you in assuming you do alright on your courses?

P.S. My overall UCI GPA is 3.33 but Saddleback's trnasfer GPA sucks....will Saddleback look at my cumulative GPA from 10 years ago (Saddleback) OR will they just look at my new science courses only? Will my UCI 3.33 help?

    Any advice would be appreciated...

hayasa- to answer some of your questions....I applied to several nursing schools. It looks like you qualify for the absn programs. You should definitely apply to several absn, traditional bsn, and adn programs. Your UCI gpa is completely normal and great! As long as you can complete all the prereq classes with a high gpa you shouldn't have a problem getting admitted! Maybe take a CNA or EMT class for good measure. Good luck! I really think you have a shot for getting into ns so don't worry!

I called the school. They told me decisions have not yet been made. Letters should go out next week. Hmmm..strange that you already got a letter.

Sorry New RN....I was talking about Golden Wsst College...have not heard anything about Saddleback. Saddleback is my first choice, but I am upset I did not make it into GW. Nice to have choices. =)

I also applied for the fall of 2011 at Saddleback College's Nursing Dept. I have 74 points on the application. Anyone one else wanna share? I'm just wondering if thats competitive.

I also heard from others that we wont find out if we get in the program until the end of May now, instead of by the 15th.
