Unfortunately, your local job market is so saturated with new grad LVNs that many facilities and agencies are only seeking to hire those with experience. You're definitely not the only LVN new grad who is struggling to find work in Southern California. Click on the links to read the threads below. Plenty of sad stories have surfaced.

Why I Became an LVN

Cant find LVN job

I got my license in May and still cannot find a job

New LVN needs a job in Southern CA

New LVN grad...can't get hired!

Are LVN jobs still in demand in Los Angeles?

Problem getting job for new grad LVN

LVN JOB HUNTERS

Keep your chin up.

I graduated with a BSN a year ago and haven't found squat yet .... feel like giving up. I send out applications daily and no luck. :o

Thanks i will keep my head up ! goodi luck to everyone looking for a job

Yup, I'm in the same boat. It's depressing because as time goes by my student loans are piling up and yet I can't even work. Nobody will hire me with out any experience. Time is passing, and slowly I'm becoming outdated. Just do what I'm doing, keep looking everyday and then keep applying. Good Luck!

wow, that's scary feeling that there is no jobs for lvn...i start monday the lvn school and reading makes me second guess it because of the school loan i have to pay back..... i'm still going to do the lvn program...i've been on the wait list for the rn program for a long time now since 08/2008 so having my lvn is better then no license and just waiting on the wait list at the local college.

I would still go with the LVN program all over again. I learned so much during my program and either way we are still an asset because we are "nurses" too! Kudos for you for going through the LVN program you will learn so much. Good Luck

I live in Granada Hills (right by North Hills) and i cant find work either. I have 15+ years experience, the jobs just arent there.

Ive now taken to applying at fast food places and retail but of course none of them are hiring either. really scary times we are in now.

I hope things change and soon!

Good Luck

I found work at the prison. They are hiring up north in Monterey County. I'm from Santa Clara County and it's hard to find a job as a LVN with out experience. I went into the prison system with about 8 months of LVN experience. Anyway, if you're interested they are hiring new graduates. Some experience is better than no experience. Good Luck

Nurse NurseCubanitaRN2b, I'm also from Santa Clara County, and unable to find any job around here. I was thinking of working for the prison system in Monterey County as well. R u working through an agency? Did u end up moving to that area, because from my place the drive is about 1.5hrs. How do you like it so far? Please PM me any feedback or info it would be much appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Tameca, you may have a shot at getting hired to do private duty nursing through a Home Health agency if you are at your wit's end. An LTC job passing meds can be totally insane for new people. It's true that is not the ideal job to start with as it doesn't give you a chance to develop your acute care skills but we are not in ordinary times right now.

We have a very motivated new grad working with us and she is doing fine. She takes the initiative to learn and there is always an RN a phone call away (well. . . most places anyway) - just something to think about. Here's hoping ALL California new grads get jobs!! :)
