California endorsement for the foreign nurse

hello!
im from philippines and i passed the nclex exam through vermont and i like to work in california by endorsement.
i have a us tourist visa. my question is the can i get an interim permit in california for me to work there even though i have no ssn?
when using the address in licensure by endosrement form, should i use my california address or here in the philippines, since iam here right now.
please help.

if you're here on a tourist visa then you can't work. i see you're trying to sneak in the back door by getting your license through vermont in hopes of getting it endorced into california. which i'm noticing that a lot of people are trying to do. california is actually pretty strict when it comes to having your license, they evaluate your transcripts and they don't accept all rn education from the us and around the world. also, california requires you to have a ssn in order to work which would require a valid green card or a valid working visa. talk to suzanne, she's knows a lot about this stuff and might as well as include it in her signature line, seems like everyone has the same question you have....

Olympus, I believe you're under a different Visa than the person who is trying to endorce her license from Vermont. I'm not sure, I would consult with Suzanne, but I think Vermont issues a license w/o ssn, but of course they're not able to work. People are assuming that because they have their license in hand that they can endorce it into California w/o ssn and are able to work, which isn't going to happen. If you don't have a legal visa and a social security, you're not able to work.

An interim permit will not allow you to stay in the US and work. The US is under retrogression and you are looking at several years waiting to get a work visa and be able to work

Frst, there are no visas available for you to adjust your visa to. The US has been under a retrogression for more than two years so there is no way at all that you will be able to remain in the US and work at this time.

You also do not qualify for the IP since you have already written the NCLEX exam, that is meant for only those that have not written the exam. CA also requires that one pass the CGFNS exam as well as English exams to be able to get the IP if they have never written the NCLEX exam.

And they will not issue a permanent license to you without a SSN# as you cannot work here legally without it. And if you try to endorse now, they will issue a temporary license, but that expires in just 180 days and then you will be stuck as you are looking at more than five years for a visa for the US to be able to work here legally. CA also has one of the highest rates of unemployment in the US so chances of even getting an employer to petition you for the green card is going to be difficult.

Please check out the International Forum for more information concerning the retrogression and how it directly impacts what you wish to do. It is also considered dual intent to come the US with the purpose of remaining. For each and every person that does that, then it makes it that much harder for someone else that is applying for a tourist visa to get one, even if to visit a sick family member here. It is also considered taking cuts in front of all of those that are waiting and have been waiting when you are wishing to do this now. There were more than 800,000 petitions accepted last summer and since there are only 140,000 total green cards per year, this puts you at over 5 years of a wait. And you are not permitted to remain in the US to wait.
