California BRN public hearing - topic possible fee increase

Nurses General Nursing

Just wanted to make sure the word gets out about the Nov. 9th hearing at the California BRN where they will take testimony regarding the possibility of increasing our license fee from $85.00 every two years to $160.00 every two years. The information can be found at the following link http://www.rn.ca.gov/regulations/proposed.shtml. Much of this is in response to the recent investigative series published in the LA Times regarding how our BRN handled RNs found to be guilty of "bad acts", and failing diversion. The first article in that series can be found here .

The fee increase is a way for the state of California to make more money off nurses. The CA BON is already fully supported by our current fees, any extra will go into the general fund which will not benefit us in any way.

My question : are cosmetologist/barber/realtor/mechanics fees also doubling?
