Can someone share advice about getting you ASN or BSN at a Ca community college or state college, is it that you will make more money in other states? or that the nurses salaries are higher in CA than others states? Do you get a better education in CA?

I've never heard that CA colleges are any better than any other state's colleges for nursing.

the college that you go to (and certainly not the state it is in) does not determine your salary. Most hospitals are unionized and nurses are paid scale. At my hospital, nurses from the top-ranked nursing school in the country (UWash), are paid the same as those from local community colleges. For the most part they are all great nurses, so just choose the school that fits your needs best.

Keep in mind that while nurses in CA might get paid more (I don't know for sure), the cost of living in CA is higher than in most other states, so the salary thing is all relative.

I live in calif and know that at the hospital i work at, it doesnt matter how you got your RN...you get paid the same regardless of BSN or ADN (Note: it is not normally called ASN)status. Unless of course, you are working management or something of that nature. California RNs tend to make a nice amount...but our cost of living is higher than other states. California nursing programs have high expectations for their applicants... so it is hard to get into most programs here. ADN program is quicker and less expensive than BSN. Quicker by at least a year. Supposedly, California nursing programs are more intensive than other states...but I have no proof to back it up, just hearsay from traveling nurses.
