Hi,
I work for the chino facility there are no exams just go to the cdcr website do the online assessment of skills exam the more you do the higher your score, then fill out state application you can go into interviewing office its literally a 1940'shouse on left side of street when you drive in house #5 or 6 I forgot they have the applications there. Then turn it in wait for interview letter took me 2 weeks for interview letter(they don't give make up interview days if you get one go!) and about 3 weeks to get callback offer of employment. They are shooting for 10 days from interview to start date. There is no polygraph no background investigation like the Co's get heck you don't even have to get a physical only TB test. If you can handle being around the inmates and working mandatory overtime it's the easiest nursing job you'll ever have.
Good Luck
Yes the infirmary is 12hrs but there are very few LVNs in there mostly RNs and the rest of the positions are 8hrs as far as I know. The RNs have post and bid worked into their contract through their union. The LVN bargaining unit is trying to get the same thing enforced with no luck, so up until then you can be placed on any shift depending on department needs. So you can get lucky and get your choice of shifts like I did but if we go post and bid newer people can be bumped which is understandable. For the most part LVNs work either 6a-2p or 2p-10p in the clinics there are a few odd ball shifts like 4a-12p there are no lunch periods eat when you can.
I am an RN and would definately be interested in 12 hour shifts. Can you give me an idea of how your interview went? What clothing is recommended? what questions or scenarios were asked of you? I have worked Psych and Forensics so I will be OK working around inmates and like OT. You can reply on this post or feel free to private message me.
Thanks
yes thier are listings for state cna positions but at chino they wont hire a state cna. its easier to have registry whom are easier to control. if you give them a hard time they just "dnr" you for any reason, a state employee is very hard to fire just my personal belief from observations.
