Hello,
I know it's still a bit early, but I was wondering if anyone is applying for the Fall of 2016 program at Calhoun?
Hello,I know it's still a bit early, but I was wondering if anyone is applying for the Fall of 2016 program at Calhoun?
Hi! I applied to the Evening program. Got 77 science and 80 on the math portions of the tease. I aced A&P 1&2 and Micrbiology. Got 252 points out of 302 on my application. I hope it's enough to secure me a seat in the evening. Saw some awesome tease scores and all I cation point tallies on this thread, so I'm pretty nervous and sitting on nails. May cant get here quick enough! Best of luck to all of us in getting into the ADN program!
How's eveyone doing?
I don't know if anyone else mentioned about this, but new curriculum is posted on the website:) or has it been there all this time? Haha Im surprised that PSY200 is gone!
Hi everyone! Who's going to the info session tomorrow (19 april)? The waiting is intense. Trying to keep my mind off getting in by staying busy. I really want to get into the evening program.
On another note, does anyone know why Calhoun is going to use ACT scores instead of the TEAS? I think that puts some students at a disadvantage. ie. Students who may not have done that well on the ACT, but did remarkably well in college courses and have a high GPA. I am one of those people. I think they need to go back to the old composite TEAS.
With my experiences while currently looking into going into medical school in the near future, most medical schools use the MCAT, Extracurricular activity, clinical experience and science GPA to evaluate applicants. They don't use SAT or ACT scores. I think the TEAS, GPA and Biological science would give a pretty accurate assessment who would be a good candidate for nursing programs. Just my two cents worth.
I won't be able to make it to
the info session. Would you mind updating here if anything important or new is said?
I think you are probably good to go with 252 points haha. That's really high, so I wouldn't worry if I were you.
I don't know why they changed that. I assume to make it a fair shot for the people applying straight out of high school. But then again, they put themselves in that disadvantage as it is so I don't really understand that either. I will be sooo upset if I don't get in and have to retake the ACT. It's been like.... 10 years since I've taken that and I vividly remember hating it and doing poorly every time. I did well in school too, but those standardized tests always get me.
I'm going to be at the session tomorrow. I plan to ask in we get in will we be attending the fall orientation or waiting until the spring one, and if the deadline for stuff like medical forms and cpr will stay with the fall or change to the spring. Is there anything else someone would like me to ask?

They said they're basically combining 3 classes that are in the first and second semester. So intro to fundamentals, pharmacology, and something else will be one big class instead. I think that's what I got out of it. Haha.
