Cal State Northridge CSUN Accelerated BSN Fall 2008

Hello,

I have just started researching schools to find and accelerated BSN or 2nd deg option for individuals that have a degree in another field. Does anyone know why CSUN is only 15 mos and others 18 mos, sometimes more?

They all seem to be different.. I have applied to some that are 12 months.. They have different prereqs and some have short term classes.. Either way they are all FAST. :-) .. Good luck there are so many programs out there now in response to the nursing shortage...

Thank you for the site! It says that most fast track prgms require a 3.0. I had a 2.7 undergrad GPA but still have about 4 pre-reqs to take. Does anyone know if my pre-req grades will be considered when looking at my GPA?

All schools are different. It depends. Some stop the semester before.. If you have 4 more to go and you aren't taking them in one semester I have a strong feeling they will count. I applied to a school in Arizona and the classes that I took last semester are not prereqs for them but they are waiting for my grades so as to help me.. Another school one was a prereq but they aren't actually including in my gpa.. So many schools and so many policies!!!!!

My experience is that the type of school . public vs. private and the location of the school make all the difference. I applied to a reg BSN program in the San Fran Bay area.. They had 800 applicants for 130 spots.. I have heard that northridge is similar. I applied to Sacramento state's reg program and I was #97 on the alt list. I also applied as a transfer student to humboldt state.. a more isolated area and was #9 on the alt list.. Two schools that are private that I have applied to .. seem to think that I will get in.. Everyone is trying to get into the public schools because of the cost. I spent 4.5 years do my pre reqs and worked full time and now took a buyout to attend school- so I have to get in. Thus applied to the expensive schools.. I have about a 3.7 on science prereq and got an 85% on the TEAS. It is basically supply and demand it seems.. So frustrating when there is a shortage and frustrating that it is hard for new nurses to get jobs.. But we must stay positive. I know one day I will look back and say it was worth it all..You are very young and many options.. Keep at it!!! This site is a great place to do research..Good Luck

Yes, they say April is when decisions are sent. So does that mean interviews are in March? Also, I read the last years csun a-bsn posts and it seems they weren't interviewed and notified until the END of April. I need to know by the beginning of April at the latest to get organized!!!!Do you think we will really be notified of decisions by the beginning of April???

to be honest. I don't think I have a chance. I applied to many other schools so I really have put it on the back burner. I also heard a rumor about them loosing their accrediation. I am trying to get into the portal .. have to call IT, Have you checked there? Not sure if that has any info...
