Anyone hear anything yet??
Hey Aferr22, I am taking patho from the U of Iowa and have pretty much finished up all the work aside from the exams. Do you have any advice going into the midterm? I plan to take it next week and take the final in late May. I've been doing great with the written work but I have no patience for those audio lectures so am depending on notes and the book for most of the exam stuff. Also, I'm taking Pharma from Indiana U...hasn't been too bad overall, a lot easier than the Patho.
Oh and I've been accepted into Samuel Merritt Oakland campus for the ABSN program. Can't believe I still have tons of Patho left to do! I hope to find out what the program schedule is going to be like (the hours/days of the week) since there is little to no information out there!

The audio lecture sound quality is crappy, plus some of those lectures are way too long...
Thanks for the heads up! I'm hoping to have everything done asap so I can breathe before the ABSN program starts. Btw grats to you both on getting in to the SF campus =) I'd like to hear where it's going to be and what clinical sites are offered to you guys. I live in Fremont so Oakland is ideal for me, also hoping to get my clinicals in the East Bay close to home. I'm anxious to find out exactly the times of the classes for atleast the first 5 weeks, since it'll be non-clinical.
I am so glad the audio for Patho isn't required, it is terrible! Goodluck on your final exam. Also to okapple I am about to take my pharma exam 2 week after next, I'll let you know how it goes unless you take yours sooner =) The first exam was pretty much exactly what she told you to study, no tricks.
If you ever want to chat off the boards my email is: [email protected]
Sincerely,
Kristen
I'm in the same boat, I take my Pharma 2nd midterm next week (Friday) and my Patho midterm this Monday. Let me know how yours go! I am not working so I am studying pretty much full time. I plan to take the finals in both the 2nd and 3rd week of May. Possibly sooner depending on my score on these tests. Goodluck! And yes I feel the pressure, I should not have waited this long!!

Hi Everyone!
I just got word that I am accepted to SMC's ABSN program (SF)!!! I didn't think I'd get that call! Needless to say I am thrilled, though Oakland would be more convenient for me since that's where I live but at this point I'll take what I've got! I'm glad that we're starting off in Oakland (is that still true?) I'm currently finishing anatomy, microbio, patho (Santa Barabara City College) and pharm (Long Beach). It's been a challenge but now I feel less stressed to get straight As. Looking forward to meeting you all!
I just finished my midterm in Patho at UIowa and wow that was a tough test! I felt confident about 35 out of the 50 questions so I'm hoping the remainder are pretty educated guesses. Lots and lots of cardio, anemia, coagulation disorders, WBC disorders, hypersensitivity disorders on there. I didn't see anything that wasn't covered in the lecture notes though, so no questions were really to 'trick' you or were taken from vague information, it was just you basically had to know every lecture topic in and out if you wanted to be able to answer all 50 questions. Sorry but that is a ton of information to be able to learn on your own.
Coming out of the test I am a bit frustrated that Samuel Merritt didn't mention the classes offered here in CA (on their website) or at nearby colleges because now I really wish I had taken Pathophysiology in the classroom, like I've heard some people are doing. Especially since I started taking Patho at Canyon College and dropped it (losing my tuition) since they highly discouraged it when I spoke to them at the Fall preview day. That's when I signed up for the Patho at UIowa since it was on the 'approved list' =P
Anyhow, I'm happy with the results, I just know I could have done better under different circumstances.
I listened to a lot of the lectures over the weekend and they did help so I guess, despite the terrible quality and the length, I will be listening to the rest of them for the final.
Has anyone heard what the schedule will start out like for the first 5 weeks of classroom? I've heard nothing other than "You're in at Oakland, come to the mandatory orientation May 17"

Hi Kirsten, I've been recently admited into the ABSN (SF). That's rotten about losing your tuition at Canyon. Was the class you're talking about at CSUEB? I looked into it but it was too late to apply as a student into the school and I heard actually getting into the class was very competetive. Also, when I went in to see if the classes I found were acceptable they hadn't known that they were even available. I think maybe that the list that's on the website is from their research prior to the first class starting. They definitely need to update it! I also wish I could have taken it in a classroom but there was no way I could afford SMC's tuition to take it!

When I received my letter about being on the waitlist they included a schedule that says "subject to change". They have listed Introduction to Professional Nursing and Health Assessment/Promotion/Teaching. The dates are 5/30-6/29. I'm really curious about the times because I have to let my daycare know. Not much, but all the info I have.
Hi Everyone!I just got word that I am accepted to SMC's ABSN program (SF)!!! I was #19 on the waitlist and I didn't think I'd get that call! hello and congrats, I'm SF campus too!!
I am currently doing UIowa Patho (just turned in exam1 request...I am SO behind!!) and IndianaU Pharm (almost ready for the 2nd midterm). Yeah, I totally procrastinated and sometimes I panic for a moment thinking what happens if I can't finish all this in time!!
Does anyone know yet exactly where the SF campus is or are they still keeping it under wraps???
