Hi everyone!
I passed my NCLEX a few weeks ago and applied to have my RN license endorsed to California from North Carolina where I went to Duke University School of Nursing.
I had been keep a close eye on my application status and this morning noticed it said my application needed attention. When I expanded the note, it said I needed to submit transcripts reflecting work in some prerequisites, including ORAL communication. I didn't realize my school only sent my nursing school transcripts and not all course information they had access to. Furthermore, I had no idea ORAL communication classes, which I am assuming are public speaking courses, were required to get a license.
When I applied to 20+ nursing schools, only ONE required a prerequisite in public speaking, and most were in CA which did not make that a requirement and did not include it in the curriculum. I did take a public speaking course in the past, but in the last week of the semester I broke my arm and had to have surgery on the day of our final speaking presentations. I was not able to attend and this was in the days before Zoom, my professor had no patience and no mercy, and I went from an A to a D, which was still considered passing, though it doesn't look great.
Does anyone know if this will suffice as the requirement they are looking for? I am desperately hoping so. I can't believe this one class could be my downfall after excelling in everything else. Thank you!
