CA RN License TEMPORARY vs PERMANENT
I applied for endorsement to CA and submitted my application for the permanent license first, and for a temporary one right after as per the instructions. I was granted the temporary one within a couple of weeks and the permanent is still pending as was expected. Does anyone know if being granted a temporary license in CA means that you will also definitely be granted a permanent one? I don't know why I am worried that something weird will happen and I'll be stuck in limbo. Thank you!

CA RN Endorsement - Transcripts + Class Requirements
Hi everyone! I passed my NCLEX a few weeks ago and applied to have my RN license endorsed to California from North Carolina where I went to Duke University School of Nursing. I had been keep a close eye on my application status and this morning noticed it said my application needed attention. When I expanded the note, it said I needed to submit transcripts reflecting work in some prerequisites, including ORAL communication. I didn't realize my school only sent my nursing school transcripts and not all course information they had access to. Furthermore, I had no idea ORAL communication classes, which I am assuming are public speaking courses, were required to get a license. When I applied to 20+ nursing schools, only ONE required a prerequisite in public speaking, and most were in CA which did not make that a requirement and did not include it in the curriculum. I did take a public speaking course in the past, but in the last week of the semester I broke my arm and had to have surgery on the day of our final speaking presentations. I was not able to attend and this was in the days before Zoom, my professor had no patience and no mercy, and I went from an A to a D, which was still considered passing, though it doesn't look great. Does anyone know if this will suffice as the requirement they are looking for? I am desperately hoping so. I can't believe this one class could be my downfall after excelling in everything else. Thank you!

UCLA New Grad Residency Summer 2022
Did you get an invitation to interview or are you still in review? Someone said on here they had received an invite several weeks ago, but that is the only perinatal update I have seen on here.

UCLA New Grad Residency Summer 2022
I applied for perinatal but I also have been waiting to hear back since my application changed to in review on 4/12 ? Has anyone heard back from any of the units this week or last week? It’s been feeling so eerily quiet ..

I tried to add it here, but I guess it's against posting rules. You can find it on the UCLA RN residency page ?

UCLA New Grad Residency Summer 2022
I emailed (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME) from the talent acquisition team this morning and he just got back to me saying interviews would be coming mid-May. Not sure if he just meant L&D or other units as well, but thought I would share it in case others are feeling anxious about waiting too. Good luck everyone, wishing all of us the best ?

UCLA New Grad Residency Summer 2022
Amazing! Does it still say “in review” on your profile or did it change to something else when you got the invitation? Also, are you internal or external?
-
UCLA New Grad Residency Summer 2022
They said in the info sessions they don’t actually know and would never tell us anyway as it can change, but some people (maybe internal) have mentioned in the forum approximately how many interviews have been handed out for some of the units, such as adult ICU ?

Congratulations to everyone getting interviews! ? For all the rest of us, let’s not lose hope yet! Has anyone heard from L&D/OB/perinatal? I’ve been in review since the 12th also, I haven’t noticed any emails even in my spam folder yet, but keeping my fingers crossed :)

Cedars Sinai New Grad RN Residency Fall 2022
Hi everyone! I know it's early and this cohort's application won't be available until August 8th (license needed before then, interviews September 14th and 15th), but in case anyone is like me graduating in May and taking the NCLEX in June who aren't eligible for the earlier application rounds, I thought it would be nice to start a thread for us. I was reading the new grad residency page and it looks like we will all be assigned to med/surg for a full year and can only apply for specialty units at the end of the one year mark after completing the residency program. Reading through past threads for other cohorts, this seems to be a different arrangement than others have experienced, possibly due to COVID. I personally don't love that structure but Cedars Sinai really is an amazing place and opportunity. What do y'all think? Are you applying elsewhere also?

Duke ABSN Spring 2021
Thank you so much for your reply! I wasn't able to attend the virtual Duke Days due to work, but have been anxiously waiting to receive the recording to get a better understanding of what this program will be like for us. When you say the classes, labs, and clinicals have all been online, I am curious how this could be so, and if they will continue as such next year. I understand how the classes could be taught this way, but what about the labs and clinicals? How do we practice our lab skills online without the tools and equipment we would have in the lab? How can clinicals be online when they are normally live in a healthcare setting and require hands on practice? Is it that everything is still offered in person, but if we are sick or unable to attend in person, we have the option of attending online instead? Any help and insight would be greatly appreciated! Also, if you or anyone has been sent the recording already, are you able to share it somehow? THANK YOU!

Duke ABSN Spring 2021
Thank you so much for your reply! I agree with what you said about this being a great learning opportunity. And I appreciate your understanding about my concerns. Unfortunately I was not able to attend the virtual Duke Days due to work and have been anxiously waiting to get the recording to better weigh the pros/cons of attending. I still have so many questions that I need answered to feel confident this is the right decision for me, but you've been very kind and helpful with your answer ? Good luck with everything and congratulations!

Duke ABSN Spring 2021
Is anyone else nervous about attending school during this COVID-19 pandemic? I think my anxiety is mostly coming from the cost of the program, and about whether we as students will have our education and opportunities negatively affected due to the new protocols for social distancing, etc. I've been talking a lot with my family and friends, they're all saying I am crazy for attending school any time soon, especially one as expensive as Duke. What if someone gets sick and we have to shutdown or postpone the entire program? What if classes and labs are moved to online, and clinicals made to be fulfilled at a later time? I am so nervous that our experience will be completely different from, slower than, and perhaps not worth the price tag it usually is? Is anyone else thinking it would be a smarter thing to reapply at a later time, work to save more money, gain more experience, and wait and see how things turn out? My family and friends tell me I would be signing up to be a guinea pig during COVID-19 and shouldn't go into debt for something that is so uncertain, it's causing me to seriously question things. I really, really appreciate hearing everyone's thoughts ?
