CA license by endorsement. Send everything in all at once?

Hi, I'm graduating in April, 2017. I will be getting my MI license because I currently live here in MI and I want to use the MI license as a fall back. It scares me that CA takes up to 6 months so my plan is to get my license here in MI then apply for endorsement right away. My question is, can I start sending things in now such as a fingerprint card and 1st degree and community college transcripts? I could send my ASD BSN transcript in end of April / beginning of May. In June I imagine I could they could verify my license with Nursys. I don't think I can send the actual application in until after I receive my license?? Every time I call it says they are experiencing a high call volume and cannot take my call at this time. I know it takes them forever so I wanted to send in what I could but it looks like I may have to wait. Does anyone know?

Thanks

send everything at once after you get your MI perm license.

Then wait 3 months. You can check on the CA BON website to see what weeks they are processing. I strongly advise to get other licenses before CA perm license is issued to you.

I applied for endorsement from NV a few weeks ago, and then read I need communication credits. Anyone know if I can get a temporary license while taking the classes?

I would think not. There would be no way to ensure you follow through once the temp is issued.

Well, I do know the temp is only good for 6 months. So if I hadn't completely the classes, it would expire, and I wouldn't get the permanent license. I guess I don't get how/why a temp is issued, if all requirements are fulfilled.

A temp license would be for those with a standing job offer but no CA license. A temp is not for someone who is missing state BON education requirements. Why would they let you work for 6 months, if you don't qualify based on current education requirements? Just because you're in a class does not mean you will complete it with a passing score. What you're saying is making zero sense. The state does not issue temp licenses for non qualifying nurses who are missing education requirements.

Are you going to be in CA at all during the process? If so i would recommend doing the livescan bc it tells you right away if the prints are bad and you have to retake. I've never had an issue and have done many livescans before. I've heard with the fingerprint card you can be asked to redo if the prints aren't good...which can set you back weeks. That being said, if you aren't coming to CA, I would suggest sending the fingerprint card and any community college transcripts asap as they keep everything on file for up to a year I believe. I sent my transcripts from pre reqs weeks before my actual endorsement. You can't endorsee unless you already have a RN license number. I arranged with my school to mail out my official transcript to CA BRN as soon as my degree posted. I mailed everything together (application, payment in check, passport photo, copy of livescan fingerprint proof).

I sent my application through overnight mail on 12/01/16, it showed that the BRN "received" it on 12/12/16 and I got my license 01/18/17. The process was pretty easy. I applied for a temporary license but got my permanent one...so I basically gave them an extra $50.

Hope that helps!!

I'm waiting for that same answer. I've read that English counts, but haven't heard directly from the BON. A couple of weeks ago my status said pending, missing education. But now it just shows pending. I mailed my application the week of February 17. Please let me know if you hear anything.

The whole idea of a temporary license makes zero sense to me. Either they've confirmed you have all the requirements for a license, or they haven't. And as far as not finishing or passing the class, then the temporary license would expire, and you wouldn't be issued a permanent license. And if they require a job offer to issue a temporary license, I missed that disclosure.

Wow, that was fast. I mailed my application around February 17, my check cleared March 16, and I'm still waiting. Two weeks ago my status showed pending, missing education. Now it just shows pending open.

You're saying they have to verify education prior to issuing a temporary license. If they know you're a qualifying nurse, why not just issue the permanent license? The whole idea of a temporary license makes zero sense to me.
