CA BON rejecting the PH courses and schools

I don't know if most of you are aware of the terrible problem we're having as PH grads in trying to get our NCLEX exam or the ATT because there's been no PH college or school that meets the CA BON minimum educational requirements.

About 99% of all PH grads from 2010 and maybe more for past years are unable (rejected or denied, all the same thing) to get our courses approved or accepted by the CA BON, so we are asked to become LVN's or re-take the deficient courses or apply to another state.

There are mostly issues with our cases and clinicals and theory not able to complete with the SAME semester and you must take all your courses and cases BEFORE you graduate.

We are all stuck with unable to do the above due to PH standards.

Are any of you guys in a new type of curriculum that does the classes, courses, cases and clinicals and or theory all together in the SAME semester, not months later, not 1-2 years later, but MUST be done in the same semester or it doesn't count in CA and some states are also going to enforce this rule.

Guys you must also have taken Med-Surg and Psych also, some grads didn't have these courses and now can't get accepted by the CA BON.

We are asked to take any deficient classes or courses in CA, but it's next to impossible to get enrolled in any CA classes, like almost 1,000's of other foreign students from all over the world going after less than a handful of open spots.

People talk of the "new 4 year" nursing program, but it's not meeting CA BON requirements either!

Now CA BON requires a SSN to even apply and there are NO more hospital sponsors, zero! Even those of you who are US citizena and have dual citizenship, the PH courses are still unacceptable as of April 2010 and more so strictly enforced since Nov. 2011.

Do you guys know of any PH schools like that today offering the "proper" courses, it's for my cousin in high school now. Thanks!

"Hello. I am a CA resident but graduated Nursing school in the Phils. I have an RN license in nevada and i am currently processing for the licensure for endorsement to CA BON. I just wanna know what school did you go to. I am a bit worried bec of all the concurrency topics posted. I came from Cebu Doctors' University which is I think 1 of the top 10 med schools in the PH. Are all the PH nurses really gonna be denied? Or is it just depending on the school?"

Hey! I tried endorsing my new york rn license in california but I got a letter saying I need to send them copies of my clinical rotation records, curriculum outline, ssn, licensed in the philippines, passport, etc. I'm an american citizen graduated in the Philippines 2007. Ive been here in ny since 2010 working as a telemtry nurse. Im trying to gather all the requirments they need. I hope everything will work out! Let me know about yours. Goodluck!

Hi! May i know the exact documents written on the letter that they were requesting from you? Thanks! :)

Hi guys,i am also having the same problem... i am also a PH nursing grad batch 2007, i took and passed NCLEX RN CA on 2008 but unfortunately i wasnt able to submit my ssn, until my file was deemed abandoned on 2011. Now that I am already here in US, I emailed the CABON on how I could obtain my license, they told me to submit again all the necessary requirements... As i read all the blogs about these issues, i dont know how to start it again... I didnt have a hard time processing all my documents on my first time i applied for NCLEX RN, but now, it seems they are giving us a hard time and i dont know what kind of clinical rotations are they referring? Do you think they could still issue my license once I reapply for it... Im getting scared that they might reject my application right now though i already passed the exam... It feels like my license is already trap on CABON...

You should have no problems with getting your CA license, once you submit the valid SSN to the CA BON and apply for examination (you will NOT have to retake the NCLEX again) There's a few recent topics already covered in your situation and all have been successful in obtaining their license, refer to those threads that were in the same issue as yours.

Your situation is much different than californiaboy and Naneg, as they have out of licenses and trying to endorse into CA and this is where the majority of the transfers gets denied (rejected), if they don't meet the CA BON concurrency rules or any other possible deficiencies. Your case was done in CA and you passed the NCLEX prior to the Nov. 2011 submissions.

I sent my application about 2 wks ago. My school forwarded my docs the same week. Called the board last monday and told me i will just have to wait for the permanent license in the mail bec my file is already in the dept for the releasing of the license. I requested for a temporary license though but the lady told me that since my transcripts and all are already there with them, they might be sending the permanent license already and not the temporary. They told me to check my name on the board's website if it will already appear in there.

That is great news if the CA BON does this! Keep checking the website and hopefully it will be there! Good luck!

Maybe the CA BON is changing their ways, lol.

Hi california boy..I just have some questions for u..if its ok...:)because i just read your previous posts that it seems endorsement of your license from nevada will come out as a good news as what CABON told u...:)if thats the case others dont have to enroll for their deficiency, and just take nclex outside California then endorse it back to Cali.right.

My question is did u apply first in california and encounter concurrency issue so u decided to apply in nevada?the reason I asked this is because I applied to nevada for my nclex too and just waiting for my att,im looking to it as a hope to all of us so we dont have to study again..hope to hear from u.tnx.

Initially I wanted to be in Nevada bec my parents are there but I have decided to be here in California to gain independence. I haven't heard of this concurrency issue before.

NV has recently started to deny many PH student grads and nurses in the last several months, if not the concurrency issue but for lacking certain courses or lacking enough clinical hours. NV is the last known state besides the other 13 states.

It seems like it also depends on how your school reports the transcripts and the year of graduation (not sure if like in CA, they are focusing in those who got their BSN's from 2004 to present).

Here's a link to just one recent PH who was denied... click and read: https://allnurses.com/nurse-registration/denied-nevada-bon-812371.html There are more reports citing they too were denied for various reasons in not able to meet the educational requirements.

There will always be a few that will get thru the screening process and it might be luck and part it was okay as there are many cases here whereby one batchmate from the same exact class and graduation year gets the ATT and all the others are rejected.

Very good!! Maybe by chance you graduated more than 5 years ago, as my previous batchmates friend was told they are not as strict as CA for now.

Make sure that you pass the NCLEX-RN within the 3 attempts to avoid having to enroll in the refresher courses! Good luck!
