Not sure if buying out contract is a good thing as it will make employers more wary on employing foreign nurses.

Buying out a contract is not a good thing at this time to even be considering. Many facilities have hiring freezes in place for a start, and then the fact that it will sour the facility on ever hiring a foreign nurse again and we have seen that happen over and over again.

They need to really be aware of the situation that is out there right now. Much has already been written on this topic in the past, would suggest a search of this site.

Two things.....

1) If the contract is not to their liking, no-one forced them to sign it in the first place.

2) They should be thankful they have a job at all, the way things are right now.

I agree with what others have said, it doesn't look good when foreign nurses accept a contract and a job, for what looks like the sole purpose of just getting to the US, then try to get themselves out of it once they have their green cards in their hands. Not very honorable, imo.
