So, in the heat of excitement over the Seahawks divisional title (Go Hawks), I ordered a Seahawks jersey through a tech at work. Two months later, after repeated inquiries, and polite "Where's my shirt?" mentions, it finally came down to "I want my shirt now!".
Got tired of the excuses ( It was Chinese New Year, my daughter is sick, it's en-route, I'm in Las Vegas, I'm only a middle man, I DON'T LIKE TO BE THE MIDDLE MAN!"
OK, new policy... NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM CO-WORKERS!
Did I mention, I'm now the 'bad guy'?

I've been burnt a couple of times too. So I'm VERY selective about what I buy from others. Also there's freq a rule about NO SOLICITING on most workplaces so I usually choose NOT to participate.
On rare occ, I will buy a couple Girl Scouts cookie boxes, but only from MY shift coworker. Avon, gift wrap, popcorn, knicky-knacks, and other catalogues just float around the units. I just don't do them.
Of course it just burns me when the admin and management are selling candy bars for their grandkids' PeeWee leagues. So much for following the rules.....
