burnout!

Does anyone have a cure for nursing burnout??? It seems so many nurses in the world today are suffering from this! Any suggestions????

Thanks!

Hang in there!! I have felt really burnt out a time or two, and I either take a week off, or work through it. Sometimes you just need to ride it out.

If it's really bad I guess you could change careers, but for most of us with the nursing bug that's not an option.

Good luck.

I find that maintaining a life outside the hospital is the most important thing for me.

I couldn't agree more! The most important thing is caring for yourself. In order to keep giving, you need to ensure you have your own needs met. Make time to do things for yourself. Make time to spend with your friends and family. It can be very difficult these days given the acuity of our patients and the demands placed on us at work, to feel like we are doing a good job. But we are doing a good job. I try to go home at the end of the day believing that I did the best I could do with the resources I had. I know that I do help my patients each day. I try to focus on the positive aspects of my work. Hang in there! Don't be afraid to seek out help when you need it.
