2017 BSN University of South Alabama

Published

Has anyone received an acceptance letter yet from the University of South Alabama for the Accelerated BSN program? I applied for spring 2017 and I haven't heard back from the school yet.

Well I finally heard back from USA and I have been placed on the wait list. Melanie, I know you were wait listed last semester? Any advice? This waiting game is awful!!

Sorry to hear that Taylor. I would definitely have your application rolled over for the next program that starts in July. It's only 6 more months. It goes by quickly. In the mean time, I would definitely set up an appointment with one of the advisors. They can tell you what you need to do. My case was different because the first time I applied, the school calculated my gpa at 3.3 because they didn't have all my grades. That's why I didn't get in the first time. After I met with the advisor, it was over 3.6, which is what I was informed a few weeks ago. I'm sure there are things you can do to get in. Be persistent and go to the school and talk to whoever you need to. Let them know how much you want this. Stay positive and try not to stress out about it. Im sure that you will get in next time. Stay in touch and let me know if I can help in anyway!

Thanks! I am definitely holding out hope that I will be accepted for the spring. In the meantime I am going to attempt to meet with an advisor. I am pretty certain that what is holding me back is my low prereq GPA. So I think I am going to retake the classes I know are bringing that score down in the spring if I do not get accepted. But I definitely need to speak with an advisor soon to make sure that if I am not in this semester that I am on the right track for next semester.

Thanks so much for your help! Good luck with getting ready for classes and I will update if anything changes!

Hi, I am just wondering if you asked to be considered for the traditional program also? Or are you wait-listed only for the accelerated? I applied a little late and am still in 2 prereqs this semester but I am still waiting to hear back. I emailed my advisor this afternoon and she said to expect a letter by the end of the month.

Hey, I originally did not ask to be considered for the traditional program. However, they called me last week and I figured out that they were missing some of my grades because they had not been uploaded to my application. They then told me that they had no open spots for accelerated, but about eight open spots for traditional. So I told them I wanted to be considered for it. They said they were going to start making decisions last Thursday and then letters would go out. So I am hoping that it shouldn't take to long!

Just FYI guys, I know we have a couple people in our class who ended up originally being on the wait list. People will get accepted and then not be able to figure out a way to pay for the program and have to drop. Tuition alone for the year costs $22,000 instate and you can only receive 12,500 at the most from federal loans. Most people in our program either had to take out private loans or have parents paying the other part. Keep calling and asking if a spot has opened if you get put on the wait list. I wasn't wait listed so I don't know everything, but one girl in our class kept calling the office about it. And it could be you find out two weeks before class starts so just be prepared to find out last minute that you may have a spot in accelerated. Good luck to you all who have been accepted. It's definitely a journey!
