Hello! I’m new here & was trying to get advice about becoming an RN. I’m in recovery & can’t help but feel like I’m a lost cause & to give up on my dreams..

If you don't have a criminal record, and aren't taking MAT, in time you should be fine for getting into a program and getting a job. However, (and this is SO important) stay solid in your program of recovery! But keep it to yourself always! Don't get caught up like a kid in candy store once you are nursing....and it's real easy to do, especially for addicts not working a program.Stay self aware and know the consequences of anything that may lead to an investigation for discrepancies....and the consequences of that, etc. Once you are reported....it's over, and a criminal charge etc effects your entire life and livelihood. Just fyi. Stay viilligent and diligent! Good luck!

Hey guys. I can’t find the forum that this pertains to, but I am in probation for alcohol abuse and I have a consent agreement with BON in wv. They said I have to do additional 15 CEU hours on alcohol abuse for my agreement. I can find substance abuse CEU everywhere, but only one course on alcohol abuse for 21.00. Even the bundled unlimited CEu sites don’t have alcohol abuse on them. Please help ?

Why not do this one for $21.00 Seems like a bargain!

If you can't find a specific one that applies to only alcohol then I'd ask them if it's okay to do the CE on substance abuse/recovery in general. Alcohol is a drug too so they probably lump it all under the same umbrella for the purpose of nursing education. But, I agree with the other comments, $21 isn't bad at all, and you may get more out of it since you personally relate.
Best of luck!! Congratulations on your sobriety!!
