BSN recent grad -should i get a CNA???

Nurses General Nursing

Hello,

I just graduated May 2011 from a BSN Program. I didn't even take my NCLEX yet. Probably not until September. My question is...should i get a CNA??? Do you guys know if I can just take their test or do I have to do a whole program for that?

I really need money, and nobody wants to hire me as a nursing assistant. They want a CERTIFIED nursing assistant.

Please help!

I'm from the bay area.....

if you are from california you can take the interim permit and work as an RN-IP for 6 months while waiting for your nclex-rn exam instead of taking cna class, listen to others advise take the nclex asap, the longer you wait the more anxious you become and the more you forget tidbits of ur nursing fundamentals, but if you really want to work get the IP and work while you are preparing for your exam.

cons in doing that- what you see in real life is not what is written in the book sometimes, you might confuse your nclex rn answers in real life vs what is written.

Some places in the bay area will not hire you as a CNA if you have your RN as well...Not sure why but when I tried to get hired as a nurse at a hospital that I used to work at, they weren't hiring new grads so I thought I could just work as a CNA until something opened up and they wouldn't hire me.
