2016 bsn program at kramer school of nursing questions...

U.S.A. Oklahoma

PLEASE HELP!!!

I've been searching to find the exact figure (or close to) the tuition cost for the accelerated bsn and traditional bsn program for the Kramer school of nursing in Oklahoma. I did look at their website but they have everything broken down it is sort of confusing; I think I have an idea but I'm not quite sure so wanted to ask someone who knows.

I also would like to hear about some personal experiences of recent graduates from within the last 2 yrs of the program. I would like to know how many students either failed/ dropped out the programs if any, and if being a single mother of a 2 yr old is doable within the accelerated bsn program.

After doing a lot of research during this winter break I found that this school really does interest me. How is Oklahoma and is there daycares close to the school? I live in MA and if need be I will definitely move to Oklahoma to attend Kramer if I decide this school and if accepted. Does anyone have any stories of either yourself or knowing someone who was a single parent and was successful in the program and graduated from kramer???

I do have a BA and I know financial aid isn't really funded for a second bachelor degree. Does anyone know of any way I could receive money for the second degree or anything for single mothers such as grants etc...

I know I've written a lot and I'll end it right here for now. I really hope to hear back from a majority of people.

Thank you.

M.S.

Your insight is very helpful. That makes me feel so much better. I am not the party time and am ready to get into school, so I can start a career I lovw. I think Kramer will be a great fit for me and I can't wait to get started. How far along are you into the program and are you doing the accelerated or traditional route?

I am finishing up the second semester and will graduate this December. I am accelerated because I have a degree and fell in love with this field rather quickly once I researched more. Within a month I made up my mind and was outside of OU's application cycle for accelerated. I saw no point in wasting a year trying to get into schools when I can work hard and get money the old fashioned way with minimal loans. It is always up to the person to make out of it what they choose to make out of it but I think anyone who is willing to put in the work can be successful at ANYTHING. The instructors are not here to try to get you kicked out they want to bring the best out of you so you can be the best nurse possible. If you have any other questions let me know but any school you go to would be lucky to have you and I am sure you will be a wonderful nurse!

That's exactly how I feel. I don't want to put it off any longer. I'm ready to get through the program, so I can start helping people. Are you originally from Oklahoma and what was your first degree in? Do you know what field of nursing you want to go into yet? You're going to be a great nurse and I'm very happy for you!

Sorry for bombarding you with questions!

You are absolutely fine it wasn't that long ago that I was super anxious about starting so I understand. I am from Oklahoma with a previous degree in Bio/Chem and I currently work in research. I have wanted to be a provider for years. I initially thought I wanted to be a PA but I did a ton of research and shadowing to ultimately decide against the field. I did not want to be attached/report to a Doc all day long but I wanted to be a provider. I just knew that MD was not my calling. I really love taking care of people from a more holistic approach. Just so happens I got a new PCP that informed me that I should consider nursing. She let me know there was a such thing as "accelerated" and to do my research. Once I did I was hooked and nothing was going to stop me. Lol. As you might have guessed my plan is to go straight into NP school but first I want to work in ICU or Cardiology. The heart is my first love. =] I am close to 30 so I completely understand not wanting to wait. I was very impatient. Just know the best advice I got from a very close friend that went to Rose State is nursing school is a mind game...PLAY THE GAME. Show up, get your work done, and always come prepared. A lot of my friends are nurses or are in nursing school around Oklahoma and our experiences are so similar I am convinced the only difference in nursing programs is what the individual is going to make out of it. If you do come to Kramer, come with an open mind. Most people get stuck on math so I would recommend getting the Ogden text this summer and doing the first 5 chapters for practice. If you get ahead on that you will be GOLDEN.

Hi there! I plan to apply for Kramer Nursing program too. Can you help me out with some questions.

What exactly is the tuition fee annually without any scholarships?

With a GPA of 3.5, how much scholarship would I get?

Is it worth the money?

Also, do they take D in required course?

Thank you so much!

I don't believe they will take a D in a required course.

The tuition is just under $14,000 a semester without some added fees

Google OCU kramer transfer scholarships and that should be able to tell you how much you'll automatically get

@cochu1195 When are you planning on starting? Do you already live in OKC?

Yea but the total fees add up to about $30k/year. I'm in OKC and planning to apply this Fall. However, there is a class I have to retake this summer so I'm not sure they will accept me for the Fall.

I'm starting this fall 2017, I live in okc, any advice regarding first semester ?

I already enrolled for my first semester so will be taking , nursing pharmacology , health assessment, and foundation of nursing.

First of all CONGRATS! And I would do the first 5 chapters of the Ogden text required of your pharm class. Math seems to trip people up sometimes and it will be one less thing you have to study for if you master it early. It can make or break you in some courses. Also, sleep and enjoy your time this summer! It's going to get real hectic real fast but you can do it!

thanks for the advice, I have a BS degree in engineering so I assume I'm good when it comes to math but thanks for the advice I'll consider doing that.

any advice about the other classes ?

I'm trying to sleep as much as I can lol but hospital work is killing me but I'm happy that I'm gonna quit soon before school.

I saw on amazon a clinical cheat card to help you during your clinical , do you have this kinda thing ?

Awesome! Students have lots of different tools they use during clinical. Its up to you to purchase what you see fit. I am sure you will be more than fine either way. Best of luck!

Maria,

I may be late answering to your thread but I know someone out there considering Kramer will read it. I am currently a senior at Kramer School of Nursing and will be graduating May 2018. My experience has been nothing but wonderful. All the faculty have been accommodating and supportive of students that they know are working hard. Of course there are complaints about faculty, but it will most likely come from someone who is not doing well in the course. No nursing school is perfect!

I'm going to be straight up and tell you that a lot of the negative comments that I see on this website about Kramer comes from students that have failed out of the program and have time to answer to threads. Nursing students that are doing well and studying hard do not have time to answer to threads and sit on message boards all day. I am answering this now because every time I see something about Kramer, it has always been negative. It bothers me to know that someone is hesitant to go to a school based on bad reviews by students that have failed out.

My tuition is mostly covered by scholarships. The school offers a lot of scholarships and locally hospitals are very willing to help pay for school if you want to work for them after graduation.
