If you are a NS with children and in a BSN program, please share your weekly schedule and the semester you are currently in. I have three young children and I have applied to a BSN program. I'm trying to get an idea of a NS schedule. Thank you.
Lola34, I go to Western Governors University. It's a prelicensure program (not RN-BSN), but they only have the program available in a few states, including California and Texas (not sure of the other states). If you happen to live in any of the states that the program is offered in, I would highly recommend looking into the school... It's very family friendly! :)
Im in an ADN program, not BSN(but have previous BA in Sociology), and I have 4 kids.
Im in my 3rd quarter(we don't do semesters here, so quarters are every 3 months), and my 2nd med-surg unit. We are off most Mondays, and go to class Tuesday-Friday for right now. Right now our schedule is Tuesday 8-3 with an hour off for lunch, Wed-8-950, Thursday-8-3, and Fridays 8-3. In April, Tuesday and Thursday classes will not be held but we will have clinicals from 645am-1pm, with classes Wed 8-950, Friday 8-3. That does not include lab times where we have MPL(mandatory practice labs for our skills) and RDE(our skill checkoffs). I have 4 kids age 9, 7, 5, and 2. It is doable but hard! My husband and inlaws help a lot especially with school pickup.

I am a mother of one very spunky 15 month old and in my second semester of school, first semester of nursing classes. I go to school Monday from 10a-4p, Tuesday 7-1, Wednesday is my 14 hour day starting 7a and finishing around 9p (I have a 6 hour break between classes but I try to use that time wisely and catch up anything I'm behind in), off Thursday and Friday is 8-2.
I am very fortunate enough to where I do not work and my mom cares for my baby twice a week while my hubbie is available the other two days. We do have some federal assistance that I hate having to need but I know at least I am using it so I am able to better myself. If you can, I suggest not working or cut back those hours! I know our program is very time consuming. VERY.
Good luck :)
