Absolutely! Get your BSN. The sooner, the easier for so many reasons. Get it, you'll always have it. Some places do pay more for BSN like Federal Service and other private agencies. One day (may seem impossible now) but one day you may wan to get an advanced degree in law or management or quality or NP, so many options. I go my MSN NP when I was 62yo. Just saying you never know, even if 1 class at a time, my recommendation is get it 🙂
I came here with a similar question, so I hope it's okay to put my first post as a piggyback? I'm getting my ASN and am in a state where there isn't a big difference in pay for the same job with either degree (ASN or BSN). I'm wondering what the actual *benefit* is to getting the BSN, aside from just having it "in case." What would the "in case" be? For example, I always thought it opened up more OPTIONS, you know? Like the ASN can do SOME of the same jobs at the same pay, but maybe there are more units, positions, facilities possible with the BSN? I'm hoping someone can chime in.
Heather, did you end up getting the BSN? How are you liking RN nursing?

I recently graduated with an ASN and am working on my BSN. I was offered a job, but when I mentioned that I am working on my BSN, they said the starting pay wouldn't change when I receive my BSN. I don't know if it was this particular place or is that common? Is it even worth getting?
