This is a fairly new college here in Indiana - I think they bought out Michiana College? Anyone know the tuition rates for Practical Nursing and Occupational Therapy Assistant? Are they any good at all? I have heard positive and negatives from other states. I emailed them - but they want me to sign on the dotted line without giving much info. You Hoosiers will know what I mean when I say how hard it is to get into a nursing program here (or any allied health program). I have tons of credit hours already - have the Ivy Tech ones with a 4.0 and still didn't get in.
Prereqs for LPN program at BM are anatomy and physiology 1 and 2 and psychology. This is part of the 15 month program. They require you to take all three classes first and each class is taken individually for one month each. Then you get to the clinicals and labs etc etc. It will be very difficult to work with their schedule because your clinicals change from week to week and sometimes you will be dedicating 8 to 12 hours a day total.
good luck!
Its entirely up to the dean if BM will let your credits transfer. If you have just recently taken the prereq's it probably wont be a problem. If its been a while then they may not accept them. Either way, be very adamant about trying to get your prereqs to transfer over. They never want to transfer credits because you are taking money out of their pockets by shortening the program and credits. If all else fails and you really know your A & P's and psychology and they refuse to take the old credits, then ask if you can take the final exams in these classes and if you pass then they may accept them.
Good luck!
BM just pi$$ed me off! I was informed by the acedemic advisor that all of a sudden there is a waiting list for the LPN program! I am supposed to be starting next start which is next week! Now she tells me that I may have to wait until July! I had my hopes set on starting asap because I am so motivated to get out of the MA program and get started on the nursing one! I'm almost mad enough to look at other options because that's bad business to tell me one thing, and then right before my financial aid appointment, tell me something else. Im wondering if this is how its going to be if I attend there! huff!!

Vonsay, are you talking about the BM in Merrilville?
Yes Merrillville Sunny, did they tell you something different?
I didn't finish applying because they would never give me a straight answer about transfer credit and financial aid.
I was going to go it I could get credit for all my supporting classes. Even if I did not finish the LPN, the school I was going to for my RN would have given me advanced credit and let me test out, putting me WAY ahead.
The guy at BM in Merrilville was so vague and the girl was worse even AFTER I sent my transcripts.
I think it can be a great school and alternative for people if they get better admissions staff.
I am sorry they messed up your plans

Brown Mackie is expensive but some students, including me are willing to pay the fees to attend or we'll be waiting forever to get accepted into programs around here. Whereas BM don't have a waiting list and you'll finish in 15 months for the nursing program and while everyone is still waiting to get in a program you'll either be working as an L.P.N or continuing your education.
