Broward College Nursing May 2015

Hi everyone I didn't see one made yet so I guess this will be the official thread for BC May 2015!

hey everyone! wow can't believe it's been over a year since I started this thread time flies so quickly. Since starting in May I just finished psych now I'm on my way to ob then peds. It's been rough and challenging, I lost friends along the way and made new ones but I'm so blessed and thankful for the support I have and that I'm still in the game. To everyone starting in May 2016 it's hard doing process 1/2 in the summer but if u can get through it you should be able to get through the the rest of program. Stay dedicated and study hard you can do it! And to anyone going thru a setback please don't give up, pick yourself up and try again. It doesn't matter how u get there or how long it took you. As long as you reach your destination in the end [emoji173]️

Hi, I am applying to the May 2016 program and am praying I get in. I am planning as if I am in order to be prepared because I will have to quit my full time job and my husband will work 2 jobs instead of 1 to meet the rent and bills. :nailbiting: I was wondering how paying for the program happens if you are paying yourself. Is it in installments or upfront? I want to be ready and have the funds available. So that means working overtime and saving every penny until the week before class starts to have the money available. I just don't know if i'm torturing myself and overworking myself at work for nothing if there is no upfront charge. You don't have to get into detail with the cost because they tuition is posted on the website but I just want a little guidance. Thank you and I hope to be in your shoes this time next year!! :cat:

You can set up a payment plan and they will let you pay in installments. You just have to make a down payment. Once you choose your classes call the cashiers office and they will direct you. Good luck!

Is anyone else working through the program?

I just picked up a part time job in additon to my 40hr a week job, so I plan to have my smaller bills paid for the next few months (student loans, gas each week, etc, car insurance).

I want to cut back on my hours if I get into the program, work about 30-36

I had a friend that worked 15 hrs a week front office in a doctors office and she said it was hard to keep up with her studies. She would sneak her books onto the job and study when it was slow. Then again it has to do with how easy things come to you. She was a slow learner so she really had to devote her time to studying.

Random question:

What kind of watch do we need for the program at central??

Just a watch with a second hand. There isn't a specific one they require.

Hi if anyone could answer a question for me. If your status says application in review after people were chosen for that term do they send out a letter informing you, you weren't admitted?

Hey there,

im in the program, I started May of last year, hopefully will graduate in December. Most people usually work part time in the program IF absolutely necessary. Never heard of anyone doing more than 20-25 hrs a week. I couldn't do it because the program IS a full time job and requires your strict time and devotion. I suggest if you plan to still work full time to create a time schedule to try and fit your studies in. See what you're headed into ahead of time so you can brace yourself.

Best of luck!

I don't think they let you know if you didn't make it, I would call the health sciences admission department to be sure

thanks so much!! I have been accepted, so I plan to only work during the weekend, just 20-25hrs to keep my benefits. I want to keep my weekdays open to fully focus on the program.

thank you for your positive response! I have known many people who have worked part and full time through grueling programs, so I know it is possible with some thought and effort,
