Anyone else palnning on applying for May 2011. Im currently in the process of transferring back to broward and I am planning on applying for May. I have all my pre-reqs done and I already took and passed the HESI, and I also have HOSA so I think I may be in a good position(fingers crossed). I just need to take Micro & I plan on taking that in the winter term. If anyone can recommend a teacher I would greatly appreciate it.
I am also going to apply for the May 2012 generic program, and has anybody taken microbiology while in the program? The classes are already full for next semester.. so I'm kinda at a loss of what to do. And also, has anybody finished the nursing program at broward college? Did you get jobs right after graduation?
Hi i wanted to ask the opinions of the people that satrted in the may 2011 group, i was curious to know what was most challenging about the start time of the summer, because i applied for may 2012 and i keep hearing no don't do it! so please how has your experience been, please include campus thank you.
Starting in my is completely do-able. I got a C in process 1 and a B in process 2. I did not work. Anyone who worked with the exception of a few didn't usually pass and had to drop. The weeks are long because you have clinical tues and weds and lectures mon and fri. As long as you put in the time to study I think it's fine. Out of our class of 90 ish about 30 continued on to Gigu without having to drop or fail.

Out of 90 that is huge! Would that number be the same if they had started in august and how are you currently doing. and the 1 short sememster is that it, and every other semester is normal?
I'm pretty sure it's about the same when you start in January or August according to friends I've talked to. I'm doing well, I'm on my second specialty 4/9 classes have been completed. I'm on the 5th. I've passed so far so I'd say I'm doing well. I think a lot of it has to do with no everyone being cut out for nursing or not really wanting to be a nurse.
I totally agree with Clynn21, however the pass rate at Central for the May starting group was only about 10%. I know nobody wants to think they are going to fail, but I think you have to be realistic. If you are not willing to put your life on hold, at least for the first semester, you are not going to pass. All you will have time for is school. I started in May and passed, but I was one of about 10 people from the 55 or so that started. The program is hard enough without the shortened semester.
Yes, I hear central is much harder. I wouldn't have chosen that campus of you paid me. Plus most of the classes there have 4 exams per class as opposed to 3 at north. They said there is no difference but I hear horror stories from over there. But I think anything is possible if you work hard and really want to be a nurse.
