Broward College January 2011

Published

New thread started for all those applying for / accepted to / attending Broward College January 2011. Chime in, let us know how you're doing!

Did anyone complete their CEU's at Sheridan Technical Center? That's where I did mine a couple of months ago and I want to make sure everything I need was done with that class because she confused me and made it seem like there were some that didn't have enough hours. They split the classes and hours differently then BC does so its confusing.

friendly terms of service reminder

a few posts have been edited to comply with the terms of service.

per the terms of service of this site, please do not post names, initials, or contact information of professors or other school officials on the public board. it is better to communicate this type of information via the private message system. you will be able to send pm's once you have 15 posts.

as stated in the terms of service:

while it is important to be able to network, everyone should be mindful of the following:

  1. it is a small world - when we narrow it down to a state and throw in some personal info, there is actually a pretty good chance someone may recognize you if you are not careful. your privacy is paramount to us.
  2. while allnurses.com is a wonderful place to vent (without excess personally identifiable details) it is not the place to express why ("x" specific person, place or program) is terrible. gripe away, but since we cannot permit allegations to be made about named entities, your care in not naming them is very much appreciated.
  3. please do not give out personal information about others. do not name names where anyone could identify the person in any facility including your nursing programs.

the best to you! thank you for your cooperation.

When you go could you list the prices you paid without insurance. Thanks =)

I do have insurance- it's Freedom Health, through Medicaid. Basically, everything is free.

I paid $285 for a complete physical, PPD, the MMRs as well as the tetorifice and hepatitis shot (the first one of the series). I went to a walk-in emergency clinic called Doctors 365. (I don't have health insurance.)They're very good.

Thanks that sounds amazing!! Where is it located?

I can't remember if anyone had said this yet, but I got the official answer from the Associate Dean of Nursing at Central that the booklist that was sent out for South campus can be used for all campuses- she said to me that, ''Nursing program booklists and textbooks used are the same on all 3 campuses''.

(I don't know why the booklist for south then, for the Pharm class, says for South ONLY.) Does anyone know what book we'll for sure be using for Pharm at Central, or is the one listed on South/North it? (Crap, lol, can someone TELL me what book and edition to use?)

i think each campus should create a thread to support one another in their group. we could all still use this current thread to still communicate with one another and swap ideas or share info;this just a thought. but lets continue to encourage one another no matter what!

not sure what campus you are going to, but i created a thread for north campus already:

I took mine at Sheridan....I am confused too! The lady said the hours have to match what they require. The core class was 90 hours instead of 75 and the HIV/AIDS was 5 hours instead of 4 hours. Everything else matched up. I emailed the advisor at North to find out if they will accept these. I would assume so, since they are more hours than they require. I have not heard back from her yet. I will let you know if I hear anything!

hey!! i started a thread for those of us attending central campus in january!!!

I took Pharm at central last fall. If you have the male teacher at central you don't use the book. Just his powerpoints.

exactly! the infection control and barrier precautions (4 hrs) plus tb(2 hrs) = 6hrs. it is much cheaper thru ceufast than bc (if u do it online). the cost for the ceus for bc online is about $65 compared to ceufast $30 for a year with unlimited ceus. i will be going thru ceufast to get the hrs.

ok guys i just wont to verify is tb tuberculosis.

i'm using rn.org, its 20 dollars for a year membership and it fl board certified.

He is the same teacher for north (north only has one pharm professor). I also did not use the book and I just went only by the notes.
