Broward College Central Campus question

Published

Hey there current BC Central Nursing Students,

I am a new nursing student starting at Central Campus of BC in January. We had our nursing orientation meeting today where they discuss the classes, books, and do a bunch of paperwork. However when the lady came in to discuss the possible scholarships for the 2nd semester, she either made it sound as if none of the Central campus professors are from any memorial hospitals but all from Broward hospitals.. either that or I misunderstood something.

I had a classmate in Micro currently enrolled at Central campus in process II who told me that there are a few random professors that work at different Memorial hospitals including even Memorial Regional, and that it would be an option to switch with say another student that did not want to drive as far when the professors are assigned.. who is correct or am I completely off..

any insight?

I'm sorry, I am confused by what you're asking. The scholarships have nothing to do with profressors, and if you get a scholarship you can't switch with someone else. Are you talking about clinicals??

no ya, forget the scholarship thing, it was just the scholarship lady who was the one who came in to talk to us and she made it sound like there are only broward health professors at Central campus and only memorial professors at south.. thats what i needed clarification on.

meaning, if i go to central, is there any remote chance of being paired with a professor at say memorial regional or any other memorial facility

I'm not sure what the hospitals are for central, but they probably aren't Memorial. If I can find out from some friends of mine at central I will let you know. You may have your answer by then :)

either way, thank you. You are always so helpful :)

You're welcome. Glad I could help :)

Hi I just finished Nursing in Central Campus in BC. I took slight about scholarships and now I cannot get any job. every hospital asks for experience so i will give you an advise BC is hard like crazy I did the program in the 16 months, never re track or withdraw and now I don't have a job. plus I am not the only one. So think about it and if you want to get a job after finished that crazy program apply for scholarship and accept it it is a good advise Mariana

and about your question the only ones workings are the 2 that got memorial and the 2 that accept broward scholarship so get one and stick it in, and other advice transfer to south campus, we started on January 2008 57 in my class and we finished only 5 for that class in 16 month we lost the rest between re tracks and withdraws south is better and easier and you will go to memorial hospitals. In central you go Broward general most of the class , one teacher (Berger) go to westside in nursing process I and in GI, St piere goes to cleveland in GI and Trends then all the other classes you go to Broward ah I forgo Kantis go in process I and II to memorial pembroke that is Good luck but change campus now again MarianaRN with not job :crying2:

I'm sorry, but why would I want to change to a campus where only 5 people made it? That would mean that its almost impossible to pass. I'm at North campus, I live close by and I like it there. It also seems we have more people passing there then at the other campuses.

I am sorry in your first post said you were in Central campus. for that I said change campus. you are fine at North. but North Campus does not go to Broward general or memorial system.

Ah ok...the original poster had said they were going to start at central, so I see where the confusion is. And yes, unfortunately, at north we don't go to Broward General or any Memorial hospitals, because I really like Memorial after growing up in Hollywood. Now I live the complete opposite end of the county. Regardless, I'm still happy with north so far, and the hospitals here have been ok.
