I must warn you about this particular nursing school. RUN far far away. The Broward College Central campus Nursing program is an an extremely corrupt program. I should begin with the facts. I attended this program with a 3.8 GPA. My starting class had over 100 students. I watched in horror as the instructors failed students left and right for the silliest of reasons. For example one fellow classmate was failed because during a clinical they went over the timed physical assessment by less than a minute. So they failed that student and you can only fail 2 classes which could include 2 clinical classes or 1 lecture and 1 clinical. Then you would have to go to LPN school to even be reconsidered to go to an RN program again. Most of the times for Clinicals they don't even need a valid reason to fail you, except it seemed to make room for the many students who had to retrack into the program from failing or perhaps to get more money. Clinicals was their easiest way to fail students. Although in Lecture they could easily make the exams nearly impossible to pass. FACT: Every student in my class was barely getting by with the minimum passing C. The faculty liked to warn us in the beginning that the C is the new A in nursing school. If you have ever gone to a descent Nursing school you would know this not to be true. There is a math test that they make you take every semester which you can only miss one question. No calculators permitted. If you fail this math test then you have to sit out an entire semester and are not allowed to go to the lecture nor clinical til you pass the math test the following semester. When I attended this program only 8 students out of my starting class of 150 ended up graduating. It seemed that if too many people were passing they made the exams that much harder. I remember students who were failed bringing lawyers to the school to try to fight the absurdities of the reasons they were failed. I did not give them the chance to fail me as I withdrew. I could not bare seeing the tears, agony and wasted money of another fellow classmate who would of made and exceptional nurse have their chances crushed of becoming a nurse because they naively went to this nightmare of a school. There were many of us and we literally dropped like flys. You are on pins and needles the entire time with these instructors as they seem to want to instill fear in the students. In clinicals I repeat they do not need a valid reason to fail you. I believe they are told to pass only a certain amount of students in each clinical. There are many other examples and horror stories I could relay about this program of seeing what was done to other students but it could probably fill a book. One student after having to retrack and sit out semesters made it to the end of the program, she had one class left to graduate and failed an exam by one point. They told her she had to go to LPN school to be reconsidered to get back into their RN program. I mainly write this to warn potential students to do your research before choosing a nursing program and do it well. But I am sure if you do your research on this particular nursing program via Central campus you will find what I say to be true. I do not know how a nursing program as horrific as this one is still able to continue. Perhaps it is from all the money they have made from 'retracking' their 'failed' students. Once you fail 2 nursing classes you are not eligible to get into any other RN program. Try explaining to another Nursing school the absurd reasons this particular school failed you out and they will look at you like you are crazy. I was one of the smart ones and withdrew from their program before they had the chance to fail me for some absurd reason and ruin my chances of getting into a legit nursing program. Nursing school is very difficult as it is but to know you are attending a school where they don't even need a valid reason to fail you is madness. This is just a warning take from it what you will.

I totally agree with you, I was one of the student who got kicked out just because of their stupid policy. Just four words for Broward nursing school " stay far far away " from that college. First they will accept you then they wil treat you like ****, then will destroy your future. They will make you hate nursing so badly you will think thousand times to go back into that profession. The staff is just sucking up states money no one wants to work their they all need to be fired! I never had that bad experience in my life.

I graduated from BC in 2005-2007 in the generic RN program in south campus. yes there are a lot of people that fail. My original class was 50 people and only 11 graduated. With that said-- it's not impossible. I have always been a B to C student before nursing school. I studied every day, I was pregnant and gave birth during the middle of the nursing program. I didn't watch TV or go out with friends. I didn't waste time. I had a schedule and I kept it even with a newborn. I would read my nursing books out loud to my baby in my arms. People would get bad grades and wonder why they got bad grades. I would explain my rationale for answers to certain questions and they would look at me like I was a moron and they were the ones that failed.

The instructors will go over your tests if you make an appointment with them or sometimes wil announce it after class. If you fail the math test you basically failed the clinical. It is a tough program but not impossible if you dedicate yourself to the studies and train your brain to critical thinking. I studied extra books such as Saunders nclex review so I could practice questions to get ready for the tests. I got to school 1hr early and I read my books in the library. I worked really hard to learn and even went to the lab to practice skills for my skill check offs. I recommend this school for those students that want to get an accredited education at a super low price. I am so thankful that I was able to have my baby and make it through nursing school and pass nclex at the first time after graduation.

I don't recommend having a baby in the middle of the nursing program. It made school a lot more tougher specially for My mom who helped me through the program.

I didn't think broward college was a bad nursing program. I've been a confident and competent nurse since graduating from there. But I wouldn't step a foot in their RN-BSN. I went to an all online UNIVERSITY where there are no clinical hours. Yes it's expensive but worth it. Now I am getting my MSN in education.

All the horror stories from broward college are true. In south campus a lab instructor failed me on return demo for process one because I forgot to take my calculator to the hospital and she was very mean to me by saying: don't you disrespect your patients like that and don't you waste my time.....I couldn't believe my ears......that same day she tested me for return demo and failed me on purpose, not only failed me but she was very rude and mean to me........stay away from broward college, for your own good.

wow how horrible. I have heard stories like that. I stayed like a wallflower and tried not to forget anything for any class. I was quite scared to be honest.

I heard people got kicked out for shaking a medication bottle instead of rolling it in their hands. Or for not wearing white shoes ..

This is entirely accurate, but now they will let you sit for theory if you are forced to withdraw for a math failure in clinical. Once you get 1 F, which is very easy to do, you cannot get another F. If you do, you will be forced to go to LPN school if you wish to be reconsidered at any Florida nursing school. Imagine getting an F in Process and then retracking, getting all the way to cardio in the last semester, then failing by 1 point! Bye bye!

My GPA has been sabotaged, my dreams destroyed, my finances ruined, and my time wasted. My class started with over 100 people in the summer and only 12 people made it to GIGU. I took off work for over 4 months just to still come up short even after pulling a B in Pharm. I'm no slacker; nursing is my dream and academia is my life. I would love to compile an anthology of horror stories from this school to vindicate all of the broken student nurse hearts.

The bookstore will rip you off for every penny you can collect from Financial Aid. Wondering why they do not post their grad rate, but only the NCLEX rate? It is because they admit over 900 students per year to nursing between Central, North, South, LPN-RN transition, and Online, and in 2014 only 380 took the NCLEX. There were people in my class who pulled Cs in pre-reqs. Trust me, they'll exploit anyone. This school is a racket from top to bottom.

My roommate failed once at Broward then went to (private) Chamberlain, which costs 87K for a BSN, and graduated. Now she is an RN with a debt sentence for life. Pretty interesting fact: the previous dean of North Campus just took a job at Chamberlain in Miramar as President.

I failed nursing process 1 back in 2012. I was attending the south campus at the time. The Horror stories of BC goes back many many years. Long story short I never went back into the program. I decided to take more classes and transfer to a BSN program.Not Chamberlain (BTW). I graduated in August 2015. Passed NCLEX in October. In November landed a job in the NICU. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Always remember if you are meant to become a Registered Nurse you will become a Registered Nurse. No matter what school you attend.

I could not agree more... Unfortunately, it's true. I've never had a worse educational experience. People warned me about the school. I was told to go elsewhere, and I did not listen thinking their warnings were over exaggerated. I'm so terribly disappointed. I've had to fight so much to keep moving forward with my classes. I want to transfer and salvage my GPA.
