  1. I could not agree more... Unfortunately, it's true. I've never had a worse educational experience. People warned me about the school. I was told to go elsewhere, and I did not listen thinking their warnings were over exaggerated. I'm so terribly disappointed. I've had to fight so much to keep moving forward with my classes. I want to transfer and salvage my GPA.
  2. Hello Nursing Community, I have a predicament about not being able to send in my PNEQ Application to the Florida Board of Nursing. I currently have 3 classes left to finish at my RN program and was interested in taking the NCLEX-PN exam. However, when I spoke with my Dean at my college of nursing she said that she couldn't sign off because they require students to go to lpn school if they fail out of nursing school. Even though this was her rationale I feel that the alleged policy does not apply to my case because I HAVE NOT failed out of nursing school & I just want to sit for the LPN exam. I am currently registered in a public, accredited, state funded college. I have met all the legal requirements, yet I'm being denied. How should I proceed?

  4. Hello Shannfinn, I know this thread is old. I was wondering if you could share how the process was for the application and your overall experience at the Mayo RN Residency Program.
  5. Check your email via D2L or outlook because I already received emails from the professor telling us to read ahead in the math book. She says she's covering half the text during the first session.
  6. Last time I checked McFatter Tech (Davie), and Sheridan Tech (Hollywood) had lpn programs. I like McFatter a lot... It's a small school, but I definitely felt my teachers were competent and they even brought in a physician for extra help during class. I don't know if this is the same exact case with the LPN program, but I did have a good experience with the phlebotomy night program. They also have a small library you can work on your assignments before class. Even though, I like McFatter I do also like Sheridan Tech because they have a bigger campus Starbucks/Einsteins directly across the street and I also know the people there are pretty nice. I think you'd do fine at either one. You can also look into Atlantic Tech Center, one of my friends graduated with his Lpn there...I don't really think he enjoyed the school that much- but it served it's purpose and he's a practicing lpn.
  7. I'd definitely retake it if at all possible, definitely would book an immediate appointment with health advising to talk about your options.
  8. I don't really like to post emotional stuff, but if anyone is feeling depressed or under the weather right now (if this can help any of you @ all) I want to share a little bit of my personal story leading up to finally receiving acceptance into this year's nursing program… (excuse the grammar as I'm speaking from the heart) At one point in my life I found myself at the bottom of the food chain with a slew of family & relational baggage. I was teenager at high risk for suicide. My parents told me that I wouldn't even graduate HS. But I OVERCAME, it started off as me being angry at certain people in my life for treating me like garbage. I isolated myself from most of the negative people I knew and I enrolled for honors classes- like Honors A&P… of course I originally signed up to show off my competency skills, but in the process of showing off I fell absolutely head over heels in love with A&P. I Graduated High School in 2011, I studied as a CNA throughout my junior year, managed to be an Advanced Placement student, and I raised my cumulative gpa to 4.2.... After that, I went to Broward College and I graduated with my associate's degree in Biology in 2013. I immediately started in the workforce, and I wanted more health experience so naturally I completed a phlebotomy technician program in 2013. I soon learned that finding an entry level job in the field was not easy - I got discouraged... I took a 2 year break from school I found myself in national business sales & marketing. When I realized that I didn't want to waste any more time being a Business Hustler Wolf of Wall Street” type... I went back to school (FAU) in the Summer of 2015 and finished my prerequisites, and serious HESI & TEAS studying by December. I worked throughout my prereqs full-time as a waitress making an average 20-30$ in tips per shift- A HUGE downgrade from my previous high paying sales position. While I was grinding at FAU, FAU discontinued their transfer student RN Admissions Program (another setback). I was even told from one adviser at FAU that I should not even try to apply to their nursing school that it's "too competitive" in which point I laughed at her for trying to scare me. So in the Spring of 2016, I got the guts and took the FULL Sectioned HESI EXAM and scored an overall 90 score on my first try. I sent my scores & finished applications to 3 different schools (Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach State). Miami-Dade rejected my application because I did not take the HESI examination at THEIR testing center. Miami-Dade's nursing admissions called me and told me that even though it was their advising office that had mistaken checking me off and that they had given me the wrong information... They do NOT accept HESI scores from BC's testing center and they were NOT going to allow me to use the test scores even though I had passed every section. After submitting multiple emails/voicemails to the deans & directors at Miami-Dade.... I finally told their nursing admissions representative that, Even though the whole situation at their school was not right and handled unprofessionally, that they could go ahead and toss my application because my business would most definitely end up going somewhere else.... Have a nice day.” This is the attitude we MUST keep. I just want to tell you don't lose faith guys. You can do it! Change your mindset, Change your Life! This is the time to stay strong and focused! You gotta have tunnel vision to reach your goals. Even when you can't see it, you may even have to fake it till you build your self-confidence. Today I'm at a humble 3.7, 13 pts on this application and even though I know it's not a 4.0, I know I worked my tushie off to get here and that setbacks/challenges are a normal circumstance all successful people must overcome. There are many many challenges in nursing school, and I know this is only the beginning because my long term goals don't end at BC. I hope that tonight we all go to bed knowing that WE ARE ALL able to accomplish our goals with a little bit of fire, and perseverance. This is NOT the END.
  9. Current Status: Application In Review Lol
  10. Email Nichole, If you are not seeing anything in the system. Don't wait! This is pretty much your last chance to clarify anything you are concerned about with your application. We are lucky that she's even updating on this thread. Good Luck Everyone!
  11. I'm on the fence with Central Campus & North Campus. I am considering Central Campus for their amazing Sim Lab, but I like North Campus because it's practically in my backyard. I am also prone to working alone, but I know this program is unlike any other I have done in the past and that it may be a definite advantage to find a group of goal-oriented nursing students to work with. Especially since, Nursing/Health in general is such a collaborative field.
  12. I wouldn't, statistically if a lot of students flunk out the first semester. I'd go "ALL IN" this semester and perhaps take out a loan if you really can't pay the bills. It's the reality of, make an investment and pass... Or Risk Passing, Flunk Out and have to go the LPN-RN transition route. During the Information Session, we were all told that working while being in the program is not advised, so I'm going with "Not Working" even if that is financially stressful.
  13. I'm scouting for my study buddies already lol. Title Description: Might be extremely Nerdy & Fabulous, Kind Hearted, May be a Coffee or Tea drinker, Collaborative, Willing to spend extra hours in Lab, Is always early & on time, Devoted to their A game, Independent Thinker, Is Married to Nursing School/Health Sciences If this is you, we may be study buddies soon. Super excited to meet you all.
  14. I received an email, but it was a general email stating they processed my application. I have not, received an acceptance letter from them yet.
