Hello Ladies and Gentlemen,
I'm starting this thread for students looking to start(ing), and (or) finishing there pre's by spring of 2013 at Broward College. Also for those who are entering (or) looking to enter the Nursing Program in Fall 2013.
We are exactly one year away from this program. So tell me what classes are you taking or have left?
I have Fall Math Intermediate, A&P II lab only, and Computers (need 6 credits to get loans.) Winter College Algebra or Statistics and Chem 1032& Chem lab
Summer Microbiology and Micro Lab.
Yesterday I visted advisement at South, and when I was leaving I got a wake up call that now I will only live, eat, breath nursing school. I never felt this way before. Once me and my advisor went over my Education Plan I started to feel that school going to get harder. Hey I can do this and so can you.
** Let me know your thoughts guys. Until....
Butterfly I know you passed Process II return Demo...I failed 1st try & have to re-do next week. Only 1 from our group passed. Do you have any suggestions that could maybe help me???I timed out & I swear I totally forgot how to read!!! Hope you are doing well!!![/quote']
Hey! I'm sorry you didn't pass but I'm sure you'll do amazingly next time! Don't stress! I'm slightly stressing over my psych quiz and exam. What was/were your problem area(s)?
Well,, Exam 1 in Process II completed!!! Hope y'all did well...Remember the C is the new A!!! Now waiting for Pro. K. to post the grades!!! Our class is now 37 out of 60 & counting down!!! lol
I'm curious here. Are you saying that 23 students have so far dropped out of the RN program? If so, is this typical for Broward College? Is it that these 23 students fail various exams and that is the reason for the dwindling numbers? Thanks

WOW, I find these numbers shocking. 13 out of the original 43 means that 70% have failed to make the grade. This does not reflect well on BC. I wonder what programs they have instituted to increase their retention numbers? Is it that the incoming LPN students are not properly prepared? Is that most of the LPN students are working full time jobs and not devoting enough time to studying?
Now I can understand why so many RN students are gravitating to these very expensive for profit programs. Talking to friends that attend these schools, it is their feeling that the stand an almost 100% chance of finishing the RN Programs at these schools, even if they are not accredited institutions. BC and MDC need to do a better job of selecting and retaining incoming RN students. I'm sure the drop out rate at FIU, FAU, UCF, etc. are nothing close to these numbers.

It is a very expensive private institution but they feel alot more comfortable and confident in their nursing education.

It's frustrating when as an LPN we have to train RNs because they haven't had much experience in clinicals and are afraid (so to speak) to touch the patient.
