Hello Everyone,
I am new to this site, but I've seen other threads for other semesters for Broward College. I didn't find one for August 2015. I figured this would be a good place to share each other's excitement to (HOPEFULLY!) start the program in August. Let's all support each other on this journey! :)
For North campus orientation, I didn't see that we had to wear the uniform or have an orientation packet. I am just going to wear regular clothes and just bring my binder, is that what everyone else is doing?
Indeed. We have to have our certs done by the deadline our paperwork is due ..correct? I still have to get my CPR done and a few online certs completed. So I shouldn't turn in my paperwork until then?
This was posted to the May forum recently...for those going to NORTH:

Hey guys!!! Im so happy to be able to write on this thread again. It has been a tough 2 months let me tell ya. So I wanted to start off saying NOT TO LISTEN TO HORROR STORIES, please!!!! By no means is this an easy program, BUT if you put the time and effort and dedicate yourself to do your best then you will do perfectly fine. I was terrified to start because of all the stories I would hear, and theyre not true. The professors are there to help you, you have all the help in the world. Trust me. If math isnt your strongest subject, they have tutors available in the lab! Its up to you whether or not you go seek this help. The exams are not hard, the questions are easy but the answer choices are not like previous exams for other classes. It is more like...all these are right, but which one is the best answer...If you read, and pay attention to class, there is no reason why you cant pass. I was very nervous for return demo, but guess what...if you mess up on a certain skill, they give you a second chance to come back and re-do that ONE skill you did wrong. Theyre not trying to fail you, I feel like a lot of people who talk smack about the program are people who are not putting in the effort to get through the program. Also, these are not the same people who failed the math for example, I know some people have that are very bright and didnt pass the math exam, but I know they will get up and try it again with all they have. But at least theyre trying.....some people talk so much crap about the program to the point where people are scared to death, and honestly its not that bad. I gave my first injection, hung my first IV, and gave three pills 2 days ago in front of my instructor. She made sure to go over the procedures before I walked in the room, needless to say..I felt prepared and confident. I loved it. So far, I have only used the Perry & Potter (havent touched the clinical perry and potter because most procedures are also IN the regular perry and potter book), the cox book, the drug book (process2)...and I think thats it..of course along with my professors lectures. I bought the pharmacology book and have not opened it once.....Honestly, his tests are based on only his lectures.....but if you feel like you need to read to reinforce what youre learning then rent it/buy it. The math book was only opened once. And that was to work some problems out. Honestly, she didnt even check it. The only thing she checks is "workbook A" work which will be posted online, and you can print it. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW WILL BE TAUGHT BY HER. For your first math test, and the math test for process 2, they will provide you with a formula sheet. all you need to know is WHAT theyre asking you. That's it. AND! you can use a calculator (you will need to buy a cheap SHARP calculator, they sell these at the bookstore, they will not allow you to use another calculator, dont ask...she will get annoyed).
My schedule for the first part of the semester was Monday: lecture 8:30-12:30, then pharmacology 5:15-8, Tuesday: Clinical (usually from 6:30 am to 5ish), wednesdayff, thursday: off, friday: lecture 8:30-12:30, math: 1- 4ish (for the first 4 weeks or so and then the final test and it was over)...process 2: monday lecture 8:30-12:30, pharmacology 5:15-8, wednesday off, thursday off, friday lecture 8:30-12:30. So yeah.....if you guys have any questions just ask me and I will try to respond as soon as I get a chance
I am sure I read somewhere not to turn in the paperwork until it is all together.
And thanks for posting what that student said. It is good to hear some reassurance that the program isn't as bad as we are hearing and confirming my belief that the ones saying how awful it is are probably the ones not ready and not goig into it wholeheartedly. I am for sure all hearts in!

Alrighty. Thanks Jbeans. & I fully agree. I've never wanted anything more. Less than a month we start! Let the countdown begin!
Just to get an idea what supplies are u guys definitely buying for the program...like the essentials
I bought a Littman Stethoscope..watch with a 'second' hand..I heard you need tape scissors..a BP cuff for practice (might not be necessary but good to have)...a pen light (I believe)...I know there is a nursing kit to purchase but I dont know what is in it. That's all I could think of ..hope that helped! :)

No they don't need proof. ..that's why they do titers. If you are immune that's all you put with the copy of titer, otherwise, if not you put the date of vaccine plus the copy of titer.
