Broward August 2015

Published

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this site, but I've seen other threads for other semesters for Broward College. I didn't find one for August 2015. I figured this would be a good place to share each other's excitement to (HOPEFULLY!) start the program in August. Let's all support each other on this journey! :)

does anyone know the exact books we need? cause i search the books up on the schedule page when logged into broward but a load of books come up and say required and I highly doubt we need all those books

I am not home but on my computer I have a screen shot of the list of books I believe some one posted from May. I'll post it later on.

Anyone know when we turn in our portfolio to south campus?

Yes, I confirmed with central campus. She informed me to turn in both the OSHA and the Infection Control CEU. I emailed the nursing dept on Monday.

How much did you get the orientation packet for?

Anyone needing to get their CPR certification, definitely go to Paramount Training. It's only $45 and they give you the card!

August 10th. Not the 14th. This is only for South tho.

If anyone is still looking for a place to go for the physical and titers, I just went to an urgent care today and got everything we need done for only $215. I thought this was a pretty good price even compared to the Dr. 365 in plantation that everyone is talking about. It's probably also a good choice for those going to South Campus because its kinda inconvenient, for me anyway who lives in Miramar, to have to drive all the way to plantation a possible three times (for the initial physical and titers/PPD test, then again to get the PPD results checked, and probably a third time if the labs are not back for the titers when you go to get the PPD checked...)

The MD Now in Pines gives a discount for Broward College students, so be sure to bring your Broward ID and mention that you are a Broward Student. Everything was really reasonable and I had a great experience there - the staff was great.

Does anyone now how much the orientation packet is for Central, what's in it and do we absolutely need it?

So I have antibodies for the chicken pox but no documentation or record of getting the vaccine...I'm guessing I need to go ahead and get the vaccine somewhere, but where?

That means you've gotten it or been exposed. ...and you just don't remember. Maybe it was a very mild case. You don't need the vaccine if you have the antibodies.

Ok I'm just making sure because the doctors office where I had titers done was saying that in order for them to fill out that section of the physical they would need documents showing when I received it so they could fill out that section.

That's why my concern was maybe I should get the vaccine to have documentation as well. So with present antibodies on my labwork is enough? No action needs to be taken to prove when and where the vaccine was given?
