I just turned in my application for Spring 2011 at Brookhaven. Anyone else out there?
I was told when they were reviewing my packet that they now accept 60 for fall and 40 for spring.
With no one receiving the +3 bonus/reserve points, it seems the point total may be less than in previous semesters.
Does anyone know what the minimum was for Fall admission?
LUPE-
It sounds like either you didn't complete enough support courses, or you didn't have enough points on your HESI. Four times is not a problem though! It shows determination, and the department notices that. I applied thrice, and I pretty much knew I wasn't ready the first time. Have you made any progress in the mean time? Check out summer and flex terms- they have a few of the support courses you might need, and think about re-taking the HESI. If you log into the evolve website, you can pull up your previous attempt and put together a study packet of all the things you got wrong. It helped me gain 6 points on my second attempt! It looks like you are just bearly under the cutoff- you might even get in from the alternate list! Good luck!
Thanks Sweetpea…
Actually, this is my first time submitting for the nursing program. I have taken all of my supporting classes, but one, which I have completed this semester. The day I took the Hesi, I was sick; my head was pounding and only had less than seven hours of sleep in two days. I did shock myself by scoring a 100 on AP and scored lower on my favorite subject math, I think my head could not compute anymore… Next time I will make sure I stay away from anyone who is sick and take my vitamins…Thanks again and best of luck to you
Hey guys. Congrats to everyone who was accepted for the Spring!
I am still working at the pre-reqs and I had a question about the dosage calc class...
it's a class that meets only a few times a semester right? I was going to register for it during this next Spring semester but I was confused when it talked about the meeting times for the class. Any info would be greatly appreciated :)
Yay!! my friends and I got into the program too!! My name is Oriana.. and James and Mandy will also be in the program with me!! I got accepted with a 37.21. I'm crazy excited!!
I got a 97.5 on the HESI and had all my support courses except for End of Life. I hope that helps! I would love to know how I ranked in the program. I know that Mandy and James were in the top ten as well and they got in with something like 33+ points. We were all on the edge of our seats. Nerves shot to hell!

Sorry LUPE, I meant to respond to LFLOWER!
Ok.. I sent a join group request on fb.. I hope the administrator accepts me.. and you might get a request from James and Mandy too.
Awesome! I am currently the administrator- everyone who was accepted will be allowed to join! We will make sure all the right people are accepted when we meet over the break or during success camp. Later on I anticipate have other administrator/moderators too! I am hoping the FB page will be a good place for us to network and ask questions, and I really want our class to be the best they have ever seen! The competition is over- we have all made it in and should definitely help one another from this point on. Keep in touch- we are trying to plan a get-together after Christmas!

Oriana, it sounds like you will do well in the program! I also think you are probably the highest ranked so far. it is surprising that the top ten would include 33 points. If that is accurate, it means that the last 30 had below that! Which is promising for many people in the future, and who may be on the alternate list now. Someone said the lowest is 31.76.

For those who will be starting the program at BHC in the spring and have not taken End of Life, I highly suggest taking it ASAP. Though it is the last class on the degree plan, it has been incredibly helpful. I did some EMT clinicals in an ER and dealth with four patient deaths, and had to interact with their families. This included performing CPR/compressions, and preparing the deceased for the family to see.
I would not be surprised if we encounter this sometime during our 16 months in the RN program. It helped me so much- unless you have been around a dying or dead person, it could very well throw you for a loop. End of Life is an easy class that can be taken over the summer or fast track, and I recommend doing so if you have the free time.
