Brookhaven Spring 2010 and Hesi A2

Published

Is anyone applying to Brookhaven for the Spring 2010 semester? How many points do you have? I take the Hesi on Sept 17th... worried about the A&P portion.

I have 14.1 points without the HESI points. I have all the classes and support courses completed with the exception of End of Life Issues (couldn't get in because it was full).

Has anyone taken the exam - was it terrible? I haven't taken A&P in about 7 years, so I am nervous about it. I am aiming for a 91 on the HESI...

How many points do you have without the Hesi points?

What was your score on the HESI?

Have you applied before?

Hi Kani1108! The professor that I e-mailed said that this was the book list for the spring. She said that it is cheaper to buy the package deal that the bookstore will offer closer to the spring. I really doubt that they will give that big of a deal...I'm going to look into buying them online because I already have a few of the books...

What is best way to study for the test guys? Please, help! I am about to take the test too.

I bought the study guide and it was very beneficial. It is made by the same people who make the test. I studied it cover to cover and did very well on the test. There are tons of practice test questions in the book, and they were VERY similar to the ones on the real test. The book is like $40, but worth every penny in my opinion. :-) I hope that helps. If you have any more specific questions, I'll be happy to answer them. :-)

I've heard that for the most part the HESI isn't that bad. But the A&P part is the hardest. There are so many areas of info that can be thrown at you. I'm taking my HESI on Monday. A little nervous about the A&P part because it has been nearly 5 years since I took A&P I. Without the HESI points I have 14.2 points right now. Anybody have suggestions on studying for the A&P part?

Chelsea3213, where did you get the study guide? I bought one (I guess an older version) but there are no questions for A&P in it.

Well I am not Chelsea, but I bought my HESI study guide atthe Brookhaven Bookstore.

Good Luck!!

Yes, the A&P portion was definitely the hardest portion. I got 100 on all portions, then a 76 on A&P. It had been roughly five years since I had taken A&P also. In my opinion, there is no way to really study for the A&P portion. It is so difficult that even if you had just completed A&P classes, it would still give you trouble. Somebody told me that they did it that way on purpose, to show you how much you don't know and what you need to learn. Bottom line, don't sweat the HESI. You will be pleasantly surprised at how simple a lot of the questions are. I think my score came out to a little over 94. So, even after doing poorly on the A&P, I got a great grade.

I highly recommend the study guide. I purchased it at the Brookhaven College bookstore. There are a ton of practice questions inside that are very helpful. A couple of the practice questions were actually on the HESI. So, very beneficial...

If you have studied all of the sections, then you will do just fine! Good Luck! :-)

I must not have a new issue of the HESI study guide. Is it the flimsy awful green spiral? Or is it different? Thanks!

No, it definitely wasn't a spiral. It's a paper-back book. Roughly the width and height of a textbook, but much thinner. Here is a link to Amazon which shows a pic of it:

I'm not sure which edition is the most current. The bookstore would be able to answer that question...

I need any advice! Thanks!

Here's a little background:

21, female.

I have a BA in Early Development Psychology. I decided to go back to school and try to become an RN. I would like to eventually work with children in pediatrics. I'm starting my pre-reqs at Brookhaven College and would like to finish there. Luckily, I have four classes from my bachelor's that were transferred in towards my pre-requisites courses/support classes. I received all A's in them. I plan to take ALL the support classes in order to better my chances at getting accepted. This leaves me with 7 support classes left! I have a few questions..

1. For those who have gotten accepted and are currently in the nursing program: What were your acceptance stats (GPA, test scores, points) ?

2. How long does the program usually take? I would like to try and be done within 2 -3 years.

3. Did you work full time as well as going to school? everyone keeps telling me to not work full time.

4. Also, I'm taking A&P and Chem in the fall? Is that a crazy schedule??

Thanks!

I also have a degree and I am working on a Master's degree. Yet I still want to be a nurse... It's crazy!
