Hey everyone,

I just wanted to get a thread started for all of the BHC/MVC students; please help me get a support system going here. I am starting at BHC in Jan. 07 and would love to make contact with the other new students. It would also be great if the current students would join in too, maybe share some advise;) /horror stories.:uhoh21: I'm sure that you current students have a lot to say.

El Centro/Northlake has a couple of really good threads going, but it would sure be great to talk with those I will be going to school with too.

I think I just got in as an alternate! YAY! I just got my e-mail tonight!

I have only to confirm my acceptance. Sadly I think campus is closed Monday, I hope I can get in touch with them soon. When do the skills labs start? I know nothing! This is so last minute!

I have to go up to the school in the morning and see about my schedule. I got the e-mail Saturday, and haven't been able to get in touch with anyone since then to confirm my spot and find out which lab has an opening. I will go there in the morning just in case have have the Tuesday morning lab and to confirm in person.

I went up there this morning just in case I had the Tuesday morning lab, and I did. So I had my fisrt lab this morning, and I confirmed my acceptance, so I'm in! There must have been several people who dropped. There is a lady from my micro class last semester, and we were both really upset about not getting in, and she got a call last week and is in my lab. I can't imagine going through all the process of trying to make it, getting in and then dropping. Oh well, that's good for us. :)

So what time does everyone have their lab?

So alot of people dropped before classes started? Well I am happy that you ended up getting a spot in the class.

How was your first skills lab? Mine was supposed to be today at 8 am, but the school is closed because of the weather. So I guess I will find out later if it will be rescheduled or if we are making it up next week. What did you all do? Were you all able to practice all of the Week One skills from the schedule?

That stinks that class was canceled today. I'm sure they'll figure out some way to make it up.

Skills lab was good. We were able to cover everything. We talked about proper body mechanics to avoid back injury, transferring patients to the chair and stretcher. Also positioning patients with pillows and moving them up in bed. We practiced moving each other. Just remember to lock the wheels of the stretcher. We were moving one guy onto the stetcher and it almost rolled out from under him!

my skills lab is going to be on mondays at 12:00, but due to mlk we were supposed to go this am...which was cancelled. argh!! i just want to get on with this, btw don't remind me later on that i wanted to go to school and was upset by a cancellation. ha ha.

anyway, i guess i will be having two classes next week; monday will be first class and then thursday will be make-up for second class.

i am so looking forward to meeting everyone. ecc/nl had a little get together, i wish we would have had one so we could meet everyone. try to tell the other students about allnurses.com so we can build a great support system.

have a happy day...i'm going to go read now.

I think we are actually going to be in lab together. I went on Tuesday morning and they told me to stay because there was an opening there, but I hadn't registered yet. For a few days there were no opening on E-connect. Then yesterday one opened, but it was for the monday afternoon class. Mrs. Adair said I should go to that one, but she will let me know if next week I should come Tues or what since the schedule is so messed up.

Hello everyone. I am taking some preq classes at Northlake. I am working towards Brookhaven's nursing program. I have taken 5 preq courses and made A's and B's...one C. I am a little nervous on the acceptance process. I read over the requirements online. For those who got acceptated....How hard was the test? What was the most challenging? I wanted a little feedback. I am also looking into a couple other 2 year nursing programs. Thanks and Congrats to everyone who got in the program... GOOD LUCK!!
