Hi everyone, I haven't seen any thread about BHC Fall '14 so I made one! I am applying this February at Brookhaven community college for Fall 2014. I took Hesi last year for trial and I will be taking the Hesi for real again this February and I have been studying really hard this Winter break! Goodluck everyone, if I do not get accepted I have plan B which to go ahead and try to apply in UTA.
Almost finished in all precourses needed just Micro and death dying this Spring but they are not counted this application so I am hoping to do well in Hesi!
Rolling bags are a bonus... Sure you dont need every book, every day, but you will always need your foundations book, a drug handbook (make sure you get one that list IV compatabilities) a careplan book... I have 3... Your lab values book... Med surg for patho.... Plus you will need the daily power points.. Some of those come from the book some dont... So you dont have to have a rolling bag, but you dont want to hurt your back... And its frowned upon to leave class to run out to your car to get something you thought you didnt need for the day...

Which drug handbook would you recommend?
One more question for the current students in the program... We just got our schedules and they say preclinical is M/T 9-12 & 1-5:30.
Is that just for the first 6 weeks? Is that both days, all day? I'm confused because I thought preclinical was the day before clinical when went to the hospital to get our patient assignment, then wrote our care plan. Also, I got Saturday Clinical and wondered how that works since we have foundations lecture Friday until 2. Did I just get the unlucky day? I know we will get more questions answered in Success Camp - just trying to sort of wrap my head around my new schedule :)
In case no one knows the answer, I emailed Nancy this morning when I couldn't sleep. 8-5:30 two days in a row seems like alot, but then there is alot to learn. I think I remember someone in the program commenting on here that it was 2 half days like Monday and Tuesday 8-12, but I couldn't find it when I went back to look. I'll post in here when she responds to me.

Hi everyone! I've been reading this blog for a while now and decided I should just join. I have a question about registering for the foundations class, foundations clinical, and the nursing skills lab. First off, where do we go to register online? I have never taken classes at Brookhaven before and I am getting confused. Also, it says on their website that for semester one we need to take those three classes as well as A&P, Lifespan, and Nursing Pathophysiology. However, when I asked Nancy she said we only have to sign up for the classes she said, so I am just so confused. Please someone help!
We'll I had taken them when I was at Texas Tech, but I didn't know if the were the same or not. But Nancy cleared it up for me today and said my credits had transferred for the other classes I had mentioned. But what about the classes for semester 2 like pharmacology and stuff, have most of you taken those already?

Preemie 2 RN - what about the rolling bags? Is it really necessary to take all of our books with us to classes?
