My administrator wants all resident in broda chairs put to bed after every meal. I dont agree with them because the residents get out of bed between 6-730am for breakfast. I dont feel like they need to be put back in bed at 930am only to be taken out of bed again at 1030. Of course after breakfast they are checked to make sure they are not needing a brief change but put back an reclined in their broda chairs. What is everyones thoughts on this? Thank you in advance for any insight you can give me.

What are the reasoning to putting them back to be? I have residents in this type of chair and they stay up in the morning, lay down in the afternoon then back up again until after 7pm where depending on their preference, one likes to watch tv for a bit are laid down for the night

I would like to see them reclined for a while after breakfast and back to bed after lunch for a nap. Getting them back to bed right after breakfast while also trying to get everyone up and at 'em for the day doesn't seem reasonable. Or do you have extra help in the morning?
They do need to be reclined, though. Making a person sit upright all morning is bordering on cruel. Older bodies need to be moved. (Ask me how I know this bit of wisdom.)
I suspect they are wanting them layed down after every meal more to hide the level of deterioration in some of our residents as we are classified as " assisted living"

It should be on a case-by-case basis. What does each individual resident want? Are there mid-morning activities that some residents want to participate in? Do any have GERD and need to sit up after meals? etc.
