BRN RN on probation PE

Published

Help, I'm on probation in California for a DUI. Part of my probation is to obtain a PE. The form the BRN gave to me indicates that the provider performing the PE is to possess at least 3 years of work experience that is directly related to the violation. My primary care MD does not have any experience with a RN that has a DUI. Can any other RNs in California that are on probation help me or tell me what they did? Thanks ever sooooo much!:clown:

Living on my husband's social security and tiny pension and putting a kid through college...not easy. Do you know anything about getting licensed in other states? I wonder if I could get licensed now? I've been thinking of moving out of state for a while.

Person to person communication - conditions do not state in person, do you know if this can this be by phone?

I already had MH examination determining no chronic problem for hearing - will I have to repeat this? It was very expensive.

Wonder if I can go to an Urgent Care - I don't want to use my family physician. It is the same MD that my mother goes to and I don't want to go there.

Do I contact Probation and request the forms to fill out to get authorization of employment, as you recommended?

And the testing is 7 days a week ???!!!

The way I read condition 16, it says IF you are deemed to have abuse problem, then you have the added conditions A-D which includes the rehab program, abstain from use of psychotropic drugs, random testing, and attend therapy or counseling program. Am I reading this wrong. Hard figuring this all out by yourself!

Do you have a suggestion how to get the probation unit to call me back re. ER paperwork. I left a voicemail on Monday, message says will call within 48 hrs which was this morning. Only number I have came on the decision letter 515-5271. Any ideas?

Has anyone heard of the BRN not approving a worksite and causing one to become unemployed? Are they that heartless?? Do they make any attempts at compromise in this regard?

Dear GNurse: where I worked we had a new hire, well-seasoned nurse that had to be "always" with another nurse for narc admin. She had been accused of being an alcoholic and lost her job, marriage, home etc. Think she was under 3 years of random drug screens, etc but don't quote me. Sounded like a living hell to me. But I have to say our Boss hired this gal knowing all the above - so you can get hired to work even if it involves being babysat by another nurse for a while. The problem I noticed was that once you go to work it doesn't take long before everyone knows what was in your past and also if they want rid of you - the boss can use it against you in the end. And if I'm not mistaken i do think that happened in this gal's case - just awful ! think she ended up retiring.

yes, yes and no, in that order....at least in FL. Other states might be less draconian.

Help - CA RNS on central coast or No. CA. I live near Sacto - need recommendations for MD and MH provider for evaluations. Had one MH evaluation prior to hearing that stated I do not have chronic problem but BRN is making me get a second one. I got rule out on random testing based on these evals so very important. Would like someone I trust or someone that I have heard produced positive reports before. Many are tied to treatment programs and that makes me very nervous!! I remember reading a post here from someone who used MD one the central coast. Any recommendations?? Probation recently started ugh. Need report to BRN by 4/3/17.

Can you provide the name of the MD you used? I want to go to someone who has experience with this but, with a lot riding on this - rule out of the random testing/meeting/support group, don't want to take any chances. BRN gave me a few names which itself makes me nervous and many are affiliated w treatment programs, also makes me nervous as do they want the money. I am willing to drive! Appreciate the help!

BRN approved my worksite but are making me see a RN or MD before each shift! My home office doesn't have one so am having to travel to RN hse, and impose on her and maybe have to disclose to yet another person to get this done every day before work! I do not provide direct pt care; I attend MD appts in the presence of MDs - you don't think they wouldn't complain if I showed up drunk!! Ridiculous, so tired of the stress.
