My wife is a British nurse, RGN.
We would like to move to Canada and we know that she will have to sit the exam CRNE but will my wife have to have a Degree to nurse over there or will it suffice that she is an RGN.
Also how easy is it for British nurses to move out to Canada permanently with hubby and 4 children. No major health issues, (I have Aspergers Syndrome bu am OK, and no criminal records etc
Thanks for the help

Moving this thread to the International Forum as it pertains to immigration matters and not the issues faced by working nurses in Canada. (See pink banner at the top of the forum home page.)

Hi and welcome to the site
There are a few nurses moving to Canada and have either gone through the process or going through the process. What your wife needs to do is apply to the province that you want to move to and go through the process of transcripts being assessed, if you meet requirements your wife will get permission to sit the CRNE and will have to go out to Canada to sit it, good way to also tie in a scouting trip. Where abouts are you thinking of going, also add nurses are short in most if not all provinces.
Although I am moving to Canada soon it is my husband who has the job offer but I am starting the process with the province we are moving to

What did you mean by add nurses are in demand?
Thanks for the great reply. We quite fancy Saskatchewan. We enjoy the country life and enjoy quieter places. My wife works here on the district and would want to do the same there.

Nurses are in great demand. Not sure about how things work in the District in Canada so may have some problems but only way will be contacting local hospitals/communities and ask.
We are moving to Nova Scotia and when I went over beginning of Feb to look at houses I found most places I looked very rural and quiet. In fact our house is 18 acres with nearest neighbor approx 1/2-1 mile away

Excellent question. I dug through the CRNBC (regulating body for nurses in British Columbia) website but could not find any comprehensvie information for you. If you plan on getting into BC I recommend you contact CRNBC directly: 1.800.565.6505 or [email protected].

By "district" do you mean a home health nurse? Those are nurses who visit people in their homes, dressing changes, med administration, often home TPN or IV meds, and check ups on home dialysis patients?
Or is she a palliative care nurse?

Would say district would be the same as home health nurse.
