British Columbia NP Applicants Fall 2025

Published

Wanted to start a forum for the 2025 BC NP applicants! I have applied to UBC and UNBC for their September intakes and am still waiting to hear from them! Has anyone received an offer yet?

@ERNurseHailey yes, I've gotta send the official transcripts in now, all the ones I submitted before were unofficial.

It's not super clear about what the next steps are, but I did see registration isn't open yet.

Also, I definitely cried. So I would say expect tears regardless of the result

Okay! Mine says action required too so I am really hopeful that's a good thing. All other emails have said application update. I will check on my break. Cue tears.

Got my email... IM IN!! Woohoo!

How many years experience/what areas of nursing do you have?  Did you have any other extra-curriculars on your application?

Graduated in 2021, mostly have worked public health and community health. I've been working as an STI/HIV nurse at a queer community health clinic for 2 years now. It's not a primary care clinic but it's... Primary adjacent. I'm also heavily involved with the nurses union.

I'm not interested in rural or remote, but I am interested in serving equity seeking populations. Specifically my goal is to provide gender affirming care as there are 0 providers in my community of 100,000 people, as well as HIV primary care and hep c treatment.

I don't know how I didn't get in, I have been nursing for 12 years with rural and ER experience. I took my remote nursing certification through UNBC with an A+ and have completed the mandatory stats with an A-. I have also done multiple cultural safety courses for decolonization and indigenous safety. I feel confused and so disappointed.

I'm looking to apply starting in 2026. For those who applied this year, how many years experience as an RN and what are your backgrounds?

I've been an RN for 11 years, mostly in LDR and have done a variety of roles including CNL, CNE and informatics type work. I'm very involved in a large number of local and regional committees and do a ton of teaching and guideline writing/implementation. I also do a ton of continuing education courses.

I just found out I was accepted to UNBC 🙂

Specializes in Cardiac.

Just found out I was waitlisted for UNBC!!
is there anyway to find out how far I am on the waitlist ? Do people on the waitlist typically get into the program ?

I was waitlisted as well. Did anyone receive the waitlist info email yesterday? I find it odd that they won't say where you are on the waitlist....also does anyone know how many waitlist spots there are?

Specializes in Critical Care.

I spoke with UNBC. They couldn't tell me how many waitlist spots. They couldn't tell me if I was top middle or bottom of list. They said the list is so fluid at the moment that it wouldn't be very accurate as people who have been offered a waitlist spots have not accepted their waitlist spot either. Makes sense from their point of view but certainly frustrating from our perspective.
