Bridging Program in Australia

Published

Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.

My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much. :clown:

(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)

Is ihna in perth ok??

Hmm, I chose Perth because they cancelled my July intake - Melbourne campus. But I guess Perth should be okay. They are offering accommodation worth 600AUD, for 4 weeks including utilities and internet. Less hassle going to and from school.

unfortunately not. During the first day of class they pass around a sheet paper asking the students where they want to be clinically placed. 1st and 2nd choice with the reasons why and current visa status and expiry. Since most, if not all students wants to be placed in Perth, they prioritize those who have families in Perth. Family like the students having kids there or who just gave birth, has a doctor to see frequently etc. Everything else is random. You can swap though with other students.

Thanks for the information! Where did you have your clinicals then? I am just hoping i'll still be in Perth for the clinicals because I don't want to spend money much on flights. Anyhow, another quick question, did IHNA require you to have the meningococcal vaccine? By the way I am from a Filipino currently working in Singapore and I am unsure if that is indeed a requirement. If you can shed light, I will be glad. Thanks.

I had my clinicals in Bundaberg, QLD. Saving money would of course be everyone else's priority. Unfortunately, this is not a valid reason I think IHNA would consider. In fact, there are only number of hospitals in Perth who is affiliated with IHNA. 3 or 4 if I'm not mistaken, most would be homecare which you would be exposed for a week, and in Perth. Others, who are either PR or on a 457 visa were placed at a later time because of lack of hospitals. They prioritized those whose visa will expire in 3 months.

You're vaccinations will be checked on the first day of class. They will collect all the forms and have it checked by a local IHNA Nurse practitioner. They will recommend together with the MRSA which test should be done or needs completion.

I am also a Filipino working overseas.

I might just be completing all to be sure I guess. Hmm... Do you recommend buying a round trip ticket? or one way will be sufficient. I don't know exactly where I should be when I exit. HAHA.

Are you processing your PR now?

Buy a round trip. It'll be expensive buying 1 way. Just make sure you exit before you're 90th day.

I'll be on a 457 and currently processing PR.
