Hi. I am new here. I don't know exactly where to go. I am a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I am interested in studying in Australia for a bridging course that will help me become a registered nurse there. I need some help on looking for a good school that offers a bridging course.
My aunt told me that a friend of her friend just went to AU to take up a test and in 6 months she's there for a bridging program. and I have this friend who has a friend who became a registered nurse in AU in 6 months time too. This agency is offering me to study for a certificate III aged care with occupational English test for 46 weeks in Einstein College but it costs too much. So now, I am trying to look for a school wherein I can apply by myself and hopefully get in. I am hoping I could leave for AU this June 2011. I am a bit lost on what to do. Can you help me, please? Any suggestions? ? Please help me. Thank you very much.
(Sydney area would be better since my parents are more familiar and in favor of that place... though other cities/areas will be great too)
The IRON, or Initial Registration of Overseas Nurses is a nurse bridging course that is done over a period of a maximum of 12-13 weeks. For IRON, it is not a student visa that is issued by the Australian Embassy, but a business stream visa (sc600). You do not need a student visa for the IRON.
I asked Deakin, they said it should be a student visa.
Tuition fees for IRON (Initial Registration of Overseas Nurses) range from AU$12,500 upwards. Do not choose an education provider based on tuition fee alone. Pick one based on quality of the training provided, because that would matter when you start looking for a job.
ohhh,,, it's been taking so long now. Before, it only takes around 4months for ahpra's assessment, and now I'm still waiting since I lodged mine last January 2014. I also read from the previous pages that some people lodged their's around August 2013 and are also waiting for the result until now. There has been changes with ahpra which is now requiring additional requirements and criteria. Is there anyone who received their approval during this time frame? Any ideas how long it will take, or will they even give us the approval for the BP after these changes?
