I'm looking for anyone who is applying to this school this year. Please let us know when you applied and any progress you make to getting accepted. Good luck to everyone!
I applied in early Dec. and decided to to retake the TEAS test before sending it for review. Form what I understand it takes anywhere from 2 weeks - 2 months to get accepted or not. Past experience has said more like the 2 months is the norm. I should be getting my results from the TEAS test today and it will be promptly moved to review next week (1/19/15). I will confirm the date when it actually gets sent.
I will update any progress as I get it.
Hey Folks!
Finally my status changed to Decision letter sent on 4/24/15 was under review from 3/6/15.. umm i already got accepted to GCC .. Now the hard choice to make, BHSON or GCC?
I live close to GCC, that makes me inclined to GCC and i heard people debating about Associates and Diploma. well i have more than 16 credits from HCC so i will get Associate no matter where i go. I wanted to commute to BHSON because of their accelerated summer option. But end of the day i wana go to the Better school (academically) so folks who are also in same boat , what are your thoughts?
Congratulations! I have heard conflicting reports about BHSN.
1. I heard there has been a huge "bump in the road" as far as BHSN and Bridgeport University (BU). One BU representative I talked directly to last week said that BHSN has backed out of the partnership.
2. BHSN from several reports has said this will be the last class for them as they are shutting down the school.
3. If that is the case (in my opinion) Bridgeport Hospital will probably scarf up every last graduate because from then on they will have to compete with all the hospitals for new nurses. (that is a good thing for this class).
4. BU has said they are starting a new nursing program with or without BHSN.
5. GCC is not going anywhere and does have a proven record of solid graduates.
So, I think as far as getting hired at a hospital BHSN may have an advantage. As far as stability in programs GCC is the way to go. My only fear with BHSN is that (and I hope I am wrong) the staff may not have their heart fully into the program knowing that their future is uncertain. Or worse, leave right in the middle of the year when they find something else. With that said I also think BHSN IS A GREAT SCHOOL WITH HIGH STANDARDS.
Good luck to you in whatever you choose Mike777.
Hey Coachremson!
This is sumthing new that there wont be a merger but shutdown. I was only aware that there will a merger in 2016. Why would they shutdown a program with 200 students?(financial reasons or sumthing else)
Bridgeport Hospital nursing school moving to UB - Connecticut Post
Well, i wanted to know what agreements they have from other nursing schools for RN to BSN? I plan to go n talk with the BHSON nursing advisors once i receive my letter sum-time next week.
Thanks for your detailed response and good luck to you too for your Nursing career.
FYI,
Before I start a firestorm over BHSN closing I wanted to point out 2 things.
1. The reports of them closing may be because everyone was anticipating the move to BU. I have no idea if they are closing because of that, money, or that they are still alive and well IF the merger does not go thru.
2. The 2017 class from what I know is still going to be at BHSN until graduation no matter what happens with BU or financial issues (if any). So if you are accepted at the school this year you are fine until you graduate.
