Brick and mortar DNP?

Published

Specializes in ER, HH, CTICU, corrections, cardiology, hospice.

Are there any full time brick and mortar DNP programs left? Or are all offerings online only. Some schools call their programs brick and mortar if they ever meet on campus. Or, as I found out, if your clinicals are in a brick and mortar building. :wideyed:

Should I just take this idea behind the barn and shoot it?

if your program is true brick and mortar, please share the name and location, thank you.

Specializes in ER/Tele, Med-Surg, Faculty, Urgent Care.

University of Texas-El Paso. I'm applying for Fall 2016. You meet for one weekend/ Fri/Sat every 4-5 weeks. That's how the FNP was also. Now a lot is done online but you still meet.

Thanks, but that's what I call an online class and not what I'm looking for.

I can't believe I am the only one that wants a brick and mortar program.

The ones i have found that are not online are:

U of Washington BSN-DNP

U of Minnesota BSN-DNP family

U of Iowa BSN to DNP gerontology, family.

North Dakota University BSN-DNP

Northern Illinois BSN-DNP (small component online)

U of Cincinnati MSN-DNP family, gerontology

U of Buffalo BSN-DNP

Some of them require 2 year experience and GRE scores, some do not.

I am also looking for a Brick and Mortar school so let me know what you find.

Are you looking for an NP program that ends in earning a DNP? Oregon Health & Science University (in Portland) has B&M programs. However- the actual 700 level (DNP) courses are online. I'm doing the AGACNP program and all my main courses are on campus, in person. And they make the DNP program as clinical and specialized as possible to whatever your interests are. Most of the DNP stuff is accomplished during the 3rd year though- where you're doing project and practicum hours (might be online or in person depending on what the focus is). And then throughout the entire program we have an online class most quarters - in addition to our on-campus classes.

Hope that helps! I think most schools- even those with on-campus focus- integrate online classes too. They're usually theory (ethics, policy, leadership, etc) type classes though....ones that really don't need to be in face-to-face format.

I forgot to add.... Just to clarify: my on-campus courses meet every single week (not just a couple times per term). I have 6-7 hours of lectures every Tuesday. And then 2-3 days of clinical each week also.
