BRCC NURSING 2017

Published

This is a thread for students who are applying in the Spring of 2017 at Baton Rouge Community College for the ASN program! Feel free to comment with questions, thoughts, or anything else that pertains to the nursing program! :)

Since you start in the fall can I keep in contact to see what I can expect?

Hi Autumn,

Congrats on getting in to the nursing program! My friend and I are applying in the Spring 2018, to hopefully get into the Fall of 2018. Any advice on the HESI? I have a 3.5 GPA as of right now. Ive taken College Algebra (Grade B) and Psych 101 (Grade A), I'm taking Biology with the lab, Developmental Psych and English 101 this Fall. I plan on taking Anatomy 101 with the lab, History and English 102 in the Spring when I apply.

I'm not a traditional student as well, I'm 42, will be 43 in December, work full time and I'm married.

Any advice you can give me would be much appreciated and Good Luck with everything!

Hey sfussell1019. First let me commend you for going back to school. I only took 2 classes max a semester because it is hard as an adult with adult responsibles to take 3 classes. I also wanted to ensure I made straight A's so I could better my chances of acceptance.

I knew that History isn't my strong suit so for my Humanity I took Art. Almost everyone made an A in my class. With Anatomy I suggest to study every night. It will follow you so know the material. You will see it on the Biology questions on the Hesi. Again in Micro and then you have to do A&P2. Biology is the building blocks to Anatomy that it's important to learn it well too. Biology lab comes back for Microbiology.

My advice is study diligently, don't listen to any negativity and to keep going no matter what.

Sure!! I'll keep you guys posted on what to expect!

Thanks for the encouragement. I will not have all my non nursing courses completed by the time I apply, but I will have most of them completed. How hard/easy was the HESI? Any one section I should concentrate the most on when studying? Thanks!

I bought the HESI book from B&N and a black and white composition notebook and worked from page 1 to the end. If I didn't know something I searched the Web for educational materials on that subject and didn't move on until I understood that subject.

My results were:

MATH 100%

Biology 96%

Reading 96%

Vocabulary 94%

Grammar 80%

Overall 93.20%

THe Hesi isn't bad at all!! It's simple math and English and the bio is everything that you have learned in bio 101. Just make sure to brush up on all the topics and you'll do fine!! I brought a book off of amazon and studied from it for a week.

I posted a link to the GroupMe on an earlier page, it just took awhile to be approved because it's a link. But it's up:)

I just posted pics of the deadlines for spring 2018 and the textbooks needed also on the GroupMe!

Where is this group me?

I posted a link a few pages back

Hi Everyone,

I forgot to ask before, is a calculator allowed on the HESI? Thanks for any information you can pass my way! :)
