So you're in the military? :)

My husband is. There is a program for military spouses, which was just now cut due to California financial crisis. It helped with 6,000 total for tuition. Anyway, it is almost nothing comparing to how much the whole thing is going to cost us :uhoh3:

I just found out about a scholarship for nursing students. It looks like anyone in a nursing program can apply. It pays for tuition, fees, books, and even some other extra costs. It is actually an exchange for a minimum 2 year full time service commitment at an eligible health care facility with a critical shortage of nurses. It is something to be checking on in the future. You can find out more about it from the Health Resources and Services Administration website.

I also found out about a financial aid for disadvantaged students. You have to go to the school office to apply for it. Your counselor may guide you through. I will call mine to have more details.

I will update my search as I go on. And, I am sure you can find out good resources from your counselor (well... let's pray you will have a great person to help you :redbeathe) And, hey, if the person is not helpful, tell them you want to see somebody else. The first time I went to National University for some other program, the person who attended me was so lost, did not help whatsoever! I came back months later to know about nursing school, and met a great counselor (my current counselor). My Brazilian friend asked to change counselors, because she did not like the first one.

So, do not be satisfied with anybody. Look for someone who will guide you through all the process, and knowledgeable about the nursing program!!!

That's good that you were able to pay for it through the military. A lot of things are getting cut, hopefully I will find somehow to pay for it.

And I hope the counselor can help me too :)

Which part of SD do u live ? If u don't mind me asking.

I'm in Rancho Penasquitos.

Hey, anaf! I am in Rancho Del Rey, Chula Vista (long ways south!). My hubby's base is in Coronado, so we figured it would be more convenient living in the South County.

Good luck with your appointment at National. And, keep me updated!

Hey!

I went to National University yesterday, and I already registered for classes. I only need to take 5 classes there :)

I'm gonna start in July and finish next March, then apply for the October cohort. Hopefully I will get in :nurse: Were you accepted on your first try?

I still need to talk to the financial aid advisor though, and figure out the money situation.

Anyway just wanted to let you know :)
